Description Labish from tumblr made a Bruce run cycle here [link] which made me want to make one of Tony. :F Gave up on a background and actual colors though since I was just spending too much time on this.....

In response to Labish's Bruce running, Tony's seems more like: "Don't worry, Bruce. I'm running to you. I won't let you leave." So much emotion.

Looking lovely! The anatomy on this is impressive, especially how the shoulders roll smoothly along and the little acceleration in the movement of the arms toward the end of each step. I really like your interpretation of Tony Stark too, I think he looks really good, and the little eyelashes are such an adorable addition xD
Also, I am jealous of your hands drawing skills. Those hands are pretty.
Yes.
Eh, just, really great job overall, it's beautiful!

it's good, the drawings are good but the motion needs work. the waist is too static and theres no ease in or out. it's only, what? 5 frames? and the face is a serious determined one wheras the arm muscles aren't quite tight enough. (Sorry i'm an animator, i don't mean to sound critical, i really do love the way you draw.)

YoshiKimos In reply to TippySingleton [2012-08-11 04:22:33 +0000 UTC]

I agree with the waist being static but i think the rest of what you said just sounded like you desperately wanted to critique a piece but really had nothing to say. so what if the animation is about 5 frames? obviously there arent going to be ease ins and outs if there low frame usage. maybe you meant to say that the artist could have used a bit more squash and stretch to make the animation flow better?

and im not really buying the whole tight muscles thing. everyone runs different. the way the artist handled this run cycle, with the expression and body language, makes it look like Tony was more desperate and a little panicky

YoshiKimos In reply to YoshiKimos [2012-08-12 22:30:35 +0000 UTC]

you can do a lot with five or so frames. Adding more frames isnt always the remedy. not everything has to have 24 drawings per second to make it a smooth animation. a little squash and stretch could have went a long way.

i will lol dont worry.

TippySingleton In reply to YoshiKimos [2012-08-12 12:37:30 +0000 UTC]

that was my point. there were only 5 frames so it couldn't be a smooth animation. and think what you like about my other point.

it's not squash and streth that'll fix it it's the frame spacing. the key poses are there are there but smetimes you do better ignoring the key poses and placing them slightly off. don't think i'm trying to be nasty. i'm not. i know a lot of people who prefer this kind of comment to improve rather than a bunch of "Nice!" comments.
and i still don't think the amont of tension in the muscles is quite right for that situation. running a marathon maybe. not as if someones in danger, as the face is.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

YoshiKimos In reply to TippySingleton [2012-08-14 17:02:02 +0000 UTC]

i know you arent trying to be nasty. i just feel you really wanted to crit this piece but didnt really know what to say. aside from the waist comment everything else sounded like you were trying to hard.
there are better ways to show off emotion in a run cycle than tensing his muscles. he could have his hands in fists, his upper body could be more stiff and not bob up and down, his arm positions could be more exaggerated which would go into squash and stretch a little. but to draw tension or tightening in the muscles? for a run cycle? maybe if he was running against like strong winds or running up hill, but this is just a simple run cycle. it just seems unneeded when there are other things that could have been suggested
but i guess we just arent going to agree so oh well

TippySingleton In reply to YoshiKimos [2012-08-17 00:51:02 +0000 UTC]

well yea. i guess not. i could see omething wrong with the emotional side and put it down the muscle tension. in general, fists and stiffer back IS muscle tension. whatever. did strike me more in the arms.

Lol yeah, I forgot about the waist since I ended up focusing on the head. Quite stupid of me I know.... Should've done some easing in and easing out and more follow-throughs too, buuuut what's done is done, I'll just keep this in mind next time I animate....

TippySingleton In reply to FerioWind [2012-08-12 12:40:03 +0000 UTC]

you have a really nice drawing style, i love your art. with a small frame rate its hard to do easing in and out and spacing is a difficult thing to get right. you did get all the key poses. like i say i do really like it.

Damn this treadmill XD. You should get one of those old film backgrounds like the ones they have for shots where people are driving or something and just have it loop in the background.

It feels like Tony is chasing after Bruce... He looks so determined, and Bruce looks so scared. It's like Tony is trying to catch Bruce to make sure he knows not to be afraid of anything... or something. I dunno. Maybe it's just me.

(This looks funny if you watch only Tony's head. Looks like he's doin' the Funky Chicken or something. XD Sorry. Had to share that.)
