Creators make a franchise, and some decide to move on doing other things in their life. Lauren Faust left MLP around Season 2; Yuji Naka left after Sonic Riders.

Rainbow Dash and Sonic, representing their each of their company's franchise, give a tearful farewell to their creators while they have to continue on without them.

Inevitable comments:
• Wouldn't it make more sense to have Twilight Sparkle representing MLP instead of Rainbow Dash?
I agree that it would, but as the founder ShadowXTwilight, I rather not commission an image of Twilight sharing screentime with Sonic; I rather commission her with Shadow instead.
Their similarities, between Sonic and RD, are why there's the fanmade crossover between their franchises. Another reason is that since Lauren Faust left, Rainbow Dash's characterizations and episodes has gotten...less appealing, starting from the Mare Do Well episode to Newbie Dash; apparently the same can be said when Sonic 06 came out after Yuji Naka left.
