geez...this picture took waaaay longer than I hoped to finish. Doubt anyone can tell by the results.
I've had this image in my head ever since listening to DO AS INFINITY's song "Rakuen". The whole purpose of this was to make it seem like a screenshot from an opening for game or anime or whatever but it doesn't really look like it.The trees aren't done very well either but I got so sick of working on it that I stopped rendering them anymore than I should. Perhaps I'll fix it up in the future...cuz they look sloppy....=0 which sucks cuz I spent a long time on it!
over all good practice on layouts though. At least I learned something while working on this.

Does she seriously look THAT out of place? She isn't exactly wearing artic clothes here. Sunny doesn't necessarily mean it's warm. I should know coming from where I live. =_=
Edits 2: thanks for the critique about the shading. I'll fix it later.

*blinks* I don't think it looks out of place...I mean after all, people in anime wear weird clothing for their environment all the time. Naruto for instance XD always sunny and he's wearing a bright orange crack suit XD lol I like the picture though it looks cool. I think you did a job ^_^

suggestion: on his pant legs, maybe the light splotches should be larger and blurred more, b/c the light ... spreads out near the bottom. :]

I think the clothing is fine. If you look at a manga/show like Naruto where the characters are always outside in a (usually) sunny setting, half of them are wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts, and half of them are wearing long pants and coats. Sunny places can have mild climates, plus, she's in an area with a high concentration of leaves high above. That'd make for a cooler temperature just due to the amount of shade. I think it looks lovely! I do agree with maybe a more yellow tone to the highlights to blend the coloring of the outfit in a bit more with the background, but even without, I think it's amazing. Subtle changes might make it that much closer to perfect, though. ;D

Forest is done very nicely and really does look like a game's animated cutscene. I think the primary reason people might think the character is a guy is because the face is done very "sharply" for a girl. I dunno if that's intentional, though, and I don't have any place to criticize even so. Just a thought.

Perhaps if you took the leaves that are in the foreground and applied more detail to them it would make the picture overall look better? That is if you are that bothered about it.
Personally, I don't think it takes away from it that much. The picture itself stands in its entirity. And no, the clothes aren't strange in that place, I recognise them from the previous dev you make before with the other girl. Nice to see this char in a setting, she was the most dynamic of the two.
