We all know the musical "Wicked: Witches of Oz"My close one and I share a love for musicals and she introduced me to the one mentioned above ^^
This is a spontaneous gift for her done with ballpoint pen and colored pencils. For the upload to DeviantArt I messed around with it in Photoshop a little.
Elphaba (known as the Wicked Witch of the West) sings a duett with her friend Galinda entitled "Defying Gravity" (german: Frei und Schwerelos), during which's performance she is pulled up above the stage while still singing: "Sucht mich am Himmel, dort wo Nacht den Tag besiegt!" ("So if you care to find me, look to the western sky.")

Very nice! But "Sucht mich am Himmel, dort wo Nacht den Tag besiegt!" means something more like "Look to the sky, where the night defeats the day!"

I know it does.
No musical has ever been translated word by word.
"Where the night defeats the day" is the west.
In the original she sings "look to the western sky".
So it makes sense ^^

Are the words different in German or something, or is that just the translation? Because the words are, "So if you care to find me, look to the western sky. As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!" Nice drawing though, how does photoshop work? I don't understand. I translated the German lyrics myself and totally missed the point. At the time I didn't know the English lyrics... Oo
