This is so beautiful it's like what if Sterling had made a successor to the Singles. A Sterling Duo as it were even if this is a tank engine I could definitely see a tender version as a 4-4-0 it even has the Doncaster curve running board. I kind of want to make a tender version of her now but I'd need a side view of her to get a better feel of her shape in line drawing form. I must see if I can find one but this is excellent my friend.
Even though most of my CVR engines are real classes I have plans for fictional designs that are built by the CVR'sĀ "Mount Vernon Locomotive Works" CME Lennard Ray Tripp or Ray as everyone calls him. He's a tribute to my Grandpa just as the Controller is one to my Great Uncle. This is going to be one of those if I can make a good looking Tender version.

Indeed I hate that fact alot about some of the models and preserved engines out there. Like little Gazelle she will most likely never see real rails again and while the Rocket replica is all fine and dandy the real rocket sits in a corner rusty, frozen and never again to run. I wish they would at least give it a cosmetic restore as this is the engine who gave life to railways proper.
Sure there are older engines but Rocket it is the engine that proved rails were the best option to carry anything on land. Plus any loco built after it was based around it's principles the puffing of the funnel wouldn't be there if Rocket hadn't shown how much it made engines run better and all.
Honestly I'd be willing to start a Kickstarter for such a thing if it wasn't for the fact I am a US citizen and I don't think I'd carry any weight as a sponsor of such a crowd funding thing. But it's a idea and that counts at least.
In truth a youtuber recently wrote a song in tribute to the Thomas incarnation of Rocket and Glynn the Coffee pot. He really nailed what Rocket must think sitting there in the NRM.
"When I arrived a new age was born, I took the world by storm. I was the fastest engine they'd ever seen, a soaring Rocket no inbetween. Soon tucked away and deemed worthless, left to rot with no remaining purpose. I'm a relic of a time long past I'm destined to be anoth piece of scrap."

Cosmetic restoration is what they can only do, if they can that is

Indeed I know Rocket will never steam again but at least restore it so it has the wood boiler jacket, It's yellow livery, and semi rust free. Honestly I can't think of a engine more deserving of a cosmetic restoration than "The Rainhill Champion" after all. This would also allow them to make the wheels exactly as the were since it wouldn't move so no safety risks of wooden wheels with steel tires.

Indeed. Sad really when you think just what Rocket brought to exist today and what condition it of all engines in the NRM is in. That to me is like forgetting those like Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln two great men who made great impacts.

I heard from another DA user that the NRM's stuff is in poor condition

I've heard the same and I think that the comments Stephen and Glynn had when they were "racing" about how no one realizes how important the role railways have been to the world as a jab at the NRM staff. They really need to repair the engines and all their other rail history materials or they will end up lost forever.
