Description Lineart courtesy of ~Hannada who very kindly allowed me to take a try at coloring it in.

I actually did Mei first, hoping that the practice would mean that I'd do a better job on Tia, who's my favorite chick in the show. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that ~Hannada had drawn them in the canon casual outfits from the show so even though I painted Mei's outfit in the right colors through sheer coincidence, Tia ended up in light, icy blue before I checked the show's screencaps and color-corrected her top.

I like the job that I did of drawing and coloring in their eyes. Mei's hair is better than Tia's, in part because dark colors are easier to draw, and Mei's breasts also came out better since Tia is pretty flat.

The hands were impossible so I hid the two worst ones behind the banner, but let Tia's flash out because I like how I shaded the knuckles.

Feedback and concrit is greatly appreciated!

It has a very painted feel to it, I really like that. I really love how you did their faces, too, the shading and highlights feel very natural, to me. So do the clothes, I think you did a really good job colouring this.

Thank you! I'm trying to stick to this style for coloring, actually -- painted instead of digital smoothness. I don't know how well it's coming out, but on the other hand, I can stare at most of my pieces quite happily and just bask in how pretty the colors are, and the lightness of the shading and highlights. I really do think that I might actually be good at this. XD

You're welcome. Thus far, I think it's coming off very nicely and molding into what you'll be able to identify easily as "your style". ^^ Yay! I do think you are right.

Haha, that's actually really cool! I really like the composition with the banner, it adds an interesting dynamic.

I think you did a pretty good job on the shading, especially on Tia's jacket. I must admit, some of the shading on Mei's stomach and hair look more like it follows the shape of the line rather than the shape it's supposed to represent (if that makes sence) Admittedly on the hair it's probably my fault because I drew the hair kinda weirdly. The actual colours you used are really good though, highlights especially, sometime people make them too bright but you got them just right. I have to agree, the eyes are really nicely coloured as well.

Still, I think it's really cool to see this coloured, so thank-you very much for doing so. For you first attempt at colouring something digitally it's extremely good. Especially with a painted style which I find is normally trickier than cell-shading.

YAY! I am so glad that you approve, since it was your lineart.

I'm pretty torn about Mei's hair. On one hand, like you said, the colors are good and the highlights came out nicely. On the other hand, I was an idiot and originally ended her hair above the linked arms, then suddenly realized that the ponytail actually continued downwards, so had to do that after I'd finished everything else. I really like how you did her hair, though. The split strands is much more realistic than the show, and way more fun to shade.

And I'm not a big fan of cel-shading, ironically, because it's too ... harsh, maybe? I love anime, but I like the painted style of shading much better. It looks prettier to me.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun coloring it in, I'm glad to have something else to add to my GF folder, and if you ever have any lineart like this that you want me to color, drop me a note and I'll probably be glad to give it a try.

And again, thanks for supplying the lineart. Really.

Hehe, it's no problem at all. If you had fun colouring it then that's the most important thing.

Looks amazing, your colouring style is awsome.
Looks like its been painted, is that intended?

Thank you! I love the painted look, actually -- when I was coloring, I wanted something layered and that looked painted, but I had a friend tell me that it looked as if I'd done with markers, which made me facepalm. Though she meant it in a good way, since a ton of artists have fantastic skills with Prismacolor markers, but it wasn't what I was aiming for.

I definitely wanted to have brushstrokes visible so that it'd have a less smooth/artificial feel than most digital work, so I'm glad that you picked up on it.

*already working on her second coloring piece*

...Would you believe this was my first attempt at coloring anything digitally? XD

You are joking me! First attempt!
I feel so inferior! I was terrible at it. So I stick to using traditional mediums, such as pencil paint and charcoal.
That IS amazing.

If it makes you feel any better, I suck at dolling. And by suck, I mean that recently, I entered a contest where I didn't even place in the top three -- and there were only five entries. I was one of the two worst entries in the contest. XD

Annnd that's what prompted me to switch to coloring. I figured that I couldn't be any worse at it!

So thanks for the praise! But you can at least draw stuff of your own (I took a peek at your gallery and Yami no Yugi stuff especially :3), whereas I mess up anatomy horribly so I wouldn't want to try that.

Oooh. Harsh. I'd be well upset if that happened. I'v never dared to enter any form of art competition. Its kinda silly cos I'm really involved with the tate gallery in london but I daren't enter a competition.

But they never look any good until they're coloured and thats never gonna happan cos I can't do it!
Anatomy is my favourite thing to draw, and I practise a lot. I have a collection of sketches in multiple school books from when I sit and draw people from my classes in biro. I was unsure whether to put some up here.
Thanks for checking out my gallery btw!

It definitely got me upset enough to give up on dolling for the time being. But hey, at least I'm doing something.

And oooh, the tate gallery? AWESOME. I think you should try a contest, but maybe not unless you grow a thicker skin? Contests are brutal. >_>

You can color stuff! It's not that difficult! And good lineart looks nice on its own. Not that I can draw good lineart, mind you. I tend to write stories when I'm just sitting around.

Yeah getting back out there is the best thing to do.

Yeah, there were so many kids chosen originally to be Art Ambassadors for their area. Me and a lad from my class were chosen first time round, then around six of us then about 12 went down. We set up a manifesto for the government about creativity for kids. Was sooo awesome! Got to look around and see exibits free and all that.

I may try a contest, but we don't have many around my area. I'm a friend of the local gallery but I'm the only one under eighteen.
I'm the baby of the group, they're all older!

I stick to my hands on stuff. I can't work with computer. My hands shake too much when working with lines. I'm okay at colouring as long as the line art is okay. Takes time tho.
