Spiderman is my favorite superhero because he's so human: webslinger or not, he's just a clever nerd from Queens with a little bit of luck and a heavy dose of snark. Spandex suit or not, he still goes to school, pays bills, and treats his girlfriend well.The Spiderman movies are the whole reason I got into the computer graphics industry. A sophomore in high school, I walked out of the theater saying, "That's going to be me in ten years."
"What," my mom said. "You're going to be a superhero?"
"Kind of." And ten years? I did it in five.
Suffice to say, when Sony announced they would have the cutest actors play my favorite superhero and his girlfriend, I was thrilled.
Spiderman (Peter Parker) and Gwen Stacy belong to Marvel Comics.

Wow. When I saw this piece, I was taken away. I wanted to say thank you for your speech. I feel the same way. Spiderman is one of my childhood heroes, because he is so human and easy to relate to. He wasn't born with his powers and he had to learn how to use them on his own. He has to balance his school and family and his work as a superhero. He has to struggle to find employment and pay the bills. He inspired me to try to help those who are in need in whatever way I can, and to be the best that I can be. I am still in that process and I hope that I will be able to make a difference in the world. Thank you for creating this piece and I hope that others are inspired.

I dunno, I love Gwen but I'd love to see her death adapted so... maybe, maybe not. Personally I'm still ticked at the comics for them getting rid of MJ and the Spidey marriage with a deal with the devil. Ugh.

If I ever meet Joe Quesada after heaping him with praise about others stuff in Marvel I'll slap him for that one. I respect the movies and Ultimate Spidey being able to let Pete have new pairings but I don't see the point of making Classic Pete single for the sake of akward girlfriend moments and a clueless Aunt May. It was interested thirty odd years agao when it was fresh, not now. And aside from Carol Danvers/Ms Marvel none of the possible replacements for MJ have been anywhere near as interesting to me.

Exactly, by now the guy has tons of good friends and I always like the banter between them. One of my favs has to be in a story where Spidey and a group of X-Men (Wolverine, Storm, Gambit and Emma Frost) are tracking the Lizard and then it turns out Dark/AOA Beast is controlling him and he turns Logan, Ororo and Gambit into Lizard-People and Emma and Peter are running away. She's already annoyed at having to wade through sewers and Spidey is nattering at her as the tunnels get narrower and finally she says something like "I'm going to my happy place. You are not there." Classic Frost.

and yeah, the only thing super about spiderman is the spidey powers, and they didn't really affect his real character, just opened him up to some possibilities.
