“You want to what?” cried out Claire, looking at Ashley in confusion. “I want to help Samantha” replied Ashley, looking into the barn as Samantha continued her check up with the scientists. “But that would mean that you would…” Claire said, her words trailing off as she thought over Ashley’s plans once more. “If it means helping Samantha, I will do it. She is my best friend, we have known each other since we were little. I know it’s hard to understand why I would willingly change myself into a cow, human, whatever. But Samantha is all alone. Going through that she must be so lost. No one is going through what she is. If doing this helps Samantha get back to normal faster and she doesn’t have to be alone for the rest of her change, then I will do it. For her” said Ashley, still looking in at Samantha who noticed and smiled out at her friend.

Claire was at a loss for words and simply started crying, pulling Ashley into a hug. “You would sacrifice so much to help Samantha. You truly are her friend” Claire said between sniffles, pulling back from the hug and wiping the tears from her eyes. “I know that Samantha would do the same for me,” Ashley said smiling, “though, if I had been turned into a cowgirl, I don’t think you or Daniel would let her” she continued, laughing. “Probably not” replied Claire, a smile also appearing on her face as she continued wiping the tears. “Speaking of that. What about your own parents? I don’t think they would let you do this” asked Claire curiously, she knew that Ashley had also had a troubled relationship with her parents, but they would probably object to the idea of Ashley being injected with a formula that practically turned you into a bull’s wet dream.

“Well” Ashley started, letting out a small laugh, “my parents are a few thousand miles away from here right now, and will be for a long time. I don’t really need to worry about their opinion. Also seeing as they don’t even live in town anymore and left the house to me. Well, let’s just say it’s fine for me not to consult them”. Claire looked at Ashley for a few minutes, thinking over what she had said. “I don’t know if you should do it, Ashley. But it’s your own choice. If you choose to do this, I promise that I will look after you until the ordeal is over. I know that Samantha will appreciate not having to go through this alone anymore. You will have to ask the scientist’s first though. I don’t think they would just let you inject yourself with that stuff” said Claire thoughtfully. It was clear to Ashley that Claire wasn’t entirely on board with her plan but appreciated the help it would give in curing Samantha. It didn’t matter though. Ashley wanted to help her friend, and, looking at Samantha, it didn’t seem too bad, right?

Claire seemed adamant in getting the opinion of the scientists before Ashley went through with her plan, and Ashley had no problem with this. Getting the two scientists on board would calm Claire down, and herself to an extent. Beginning to walk towards the barn, Ashley’s mind was racing. She was nervous, excited and scared all at the same time. Looking at her cowgirl friend didn’t help her, it just reminded her of what she would probably turn into if she went through with this. Would she be able to turn back? Would it even work? Should she even be doing this? These were all questions that Ashley asked herself as she finally arrived into the barn. Her sense of adventure had been piqued and there was no turning back now.

Samantha and the two scientists had not noticed her enter the barn, they appeared to be in the process of scanning Samantha with some sort of device. “Excuse me?” said Ashley nervously. They didn’t hear her. “Excuse me?” Ashley said again, this time more loudly. Melanie was the first to notice and looked behind her, finally noticing Ashley. “Oh, hey Ashley, what’s up?” Melanie asked smiling. Ashely froze, she didn’t know how to proceed, how to possibly ask the question she wanted to ask. It got even worse as both Samantha and Rachel were now also looking at her. “Ashley?” said Samantha, looking at her friend. Ashley just stood there, probably looking a bit foolish as she thought of what words to say. “Cold in here isn’t it?” she finally said, confusion flooding her mind as she mentally kicked herself, “idiot,” she thought to herself. Both Rachel and Melanie glanced at each other, puzzled by Ashley’s question. “Umm… Not really… Its summer” replied Samantha, who laughed at her friend’s odd question, the cowbell around her neck ringing as she looked at the two scientists for their own reactions. “Yeah, I guess,” Ashely said, laughing nervously, “could I possibly talk to you two for a minute?” she continued, hoping to move the conversation forward. “Uh, yeah sure. We are almost done here” said Rachel putting away the scanner and smiling at Ashley, “just give us a minute, ok?”. “Ok” replied Ashley relieved that she had eventually asked the question she wanted to ask despite her own minds attempts to make her look like an idiot. Of course, there was still the task of actually asking the two scientists to turn her into a four-breasted cowgirl, but Ashley pushed that to the back of her mind for now.

It was about five minutes later when the scientists were eventually finished with Samantha who had hurried off to the dairy for a much-needed milking, her udder and breasts practically engorged with milk. After Samantha had said her goodbyes to the scientists, it was just Ashley and them two left standing outside the barn. “You wanted to ask us something Ashley?” asked Rachel, opening the back of their van and placing stuff inside. Ashley let out a heavy breath, having spent the last five minutes gearing up to ask the all-important question. “I was talking to Claire, Samantha’s mom, earlier, and she said that because you guys only had a limited test sample, the work on getting Samantha back to normal would take longer. So, I was wondering if… Well if you… What I was wondering was, if I was injected with that stuff, would it help the research you are doing go faster?” asked Ashley, whose eyes were now darting between the faces of the two shocked scientists in front of her. There were a few seconds of silence before one of the scientists responded. “You want to help Samantha, don’t you? You don’t want her to be this way anymore?” said Rachel, smiling compassionately, “I can understand that completely. But you don’t have to put yourself through that. You can help Samantha without injecting yourself, just be there for her and help her through this. As I said, we will hopefully have this cure finished in a few weeks”. Ashley nodded, she couldn’t argue with that logic, but she couldn’t help but wonder if her going through with this would turn that few weeks into just two or even one. Rachel could see that her answer hadn’t satisfied Ashley completely, and she knew that she was probably not thinking too rationally right now. “Why don’t you think about it a little more? Maybe sleep on it?” continued Rachel, looking over to Melanie for support. “Yeah. You should really think this through Ash” said Melanie, giving Ashley a small smile. “Ok” replied Ashley nodding, they were probably right in telling her to think on this.

The two scientists were eventually gone, leaving Ashley alone standing outside the barn. Her mind was thinking over what the scientists had said to her, and maybe they were right. Re-entering the barn, Ashley stood around a began waiting for Samantha to finish being milked. Wondering around the barn, Ashley began humming to herself. That is until she spotted a syringe gun on top of a small freezer box. Curious, Ashley went over and picked up the gun, inspecting it. Opening the freezer, Ashley was confronted with the sight of five vials all labeled, Dairy Cow Formula. Ashley was shocked, and her mind was racing, her heart beating hard in her chest. She could inject herself right now if she wanted and help her friend, and though she probably wouldn’t say it out loud, her curiosity. “What should I do?” Ashley thought to herself, Rachels advise to think it over playing once more in her head.

taking the syringe gun in both hands and looking it over, Ashley knew that whatever she decided next would ultimately have repercussions for her.
