Some explanation:

Gosh, it was hard to pick characters for this. Some I've been drawing for so long that they've split apart and become two different characters, so I didn't know whether to start from the point they became the character they still are today! Well, I'll talk about them anyway:

Rah, who started off as a doodle on some kind of school book somewhere, was probably influence by the neopets Faerie aisha. I have one on there, called Kezhali, who I still very much love. Kezhali and Rah both have a similar kind of...non-malicious brattish personality, but at the time I drew Rah's first image, they were definitely separate characters. She was pretty much settled on the third 'redesign' of her looks, and since then I've just gone with less grey colours, and hoped that my anatomy has improved. That last image is a few years old, actually. She's due for something new!

Thursday was born on Subeta, and has grown a lot since then in personality, although not a whole lot in looks. She began as a cream malticorn, then became a bloodred kanis one day and hasn't changed since. I wanted her to be my 'oriental' pet, and so I just kind of slapped a wig/kimono/geisha paint onto her. A while later, she fell in love with the character Wood, who she had been friends with a long time, and their story developed, as did her design. She's a lot softer now, much more demure, with her rabbit ears incorporated into her bizarre hair. Weirdness, but it's just what happened!

Lore began as a sketch in my skethbook, called Kume at first. I moved her to Subeta years later when a friend offered me the name Lore, and I just realised it would be a perfect time to update Kume. At first, I went for a bit of a radical design which was way too lizard-y for me. After watching 'The Water Horse' I knew that's what I wanted her to be, and whilst at first I did try giving her a tropical fish kind of colouring, I ended up going for something a bit less saturated!

Folly began on a site called AfterMathZone, as...whatever their horse pet was. I think he was called Raphael at first, and then Sebastian. In my head he was Sebastian for a long time, I had to make him Folly on Subeta because Sebastian was taken, but recently I realised the name Folly has well and truely stuck. He lost his purple coat in favour of what my favourite horse colour would be (the third picture, which is just an edit, not my art!), became a gypsy vanner...and then gained wings because damnit, I wanted a pegasus. His story now runs with Lore's, who live in some kind of mythical world yadda yadda. Fun times.

I feel like I should have done Orrin's here too, but he hasn't really changed much except for gaining little antlers.

Haha, most of the 'inbetween' are just sketches in my many sketchbooks! Some of the changes were much more gradual xD

Ah, AfterMathZone! Yes, I recently joined that as it has re-opened. ^^ Fun to see something that originated there~ -pokes Folly on the nose-

It's great to see this sort of thing! Very interesting, too. o3o Thanks for putting it up!

Haha, yes that is definitely where my need to have a horse character came from! I actually have two now, the other is named Mule and is...a mule. He has some of Sebastian's old character, so I suppose he split in half to create the two I have now!

I do like doing memes every now and then to get me to think about my characters a bit more. After this one, I wanted to revisit all of my characters to give them another 'most recent' design...but I have around 60 active characters and that would take me 2 months to do D:

Aah, yes, splitting! I've actually experienced that with characters before. c: It's interesting to see where you start to where you end - or rather, where you're at right now. Always room for character evolution, I say.

Ahaha, you sound like my buddy ~JadeyTheClown . She has bundles of characters and so when it comes to revamping it seems like she's always coming up with something, or a totally new character, or something. XD It's fun though~

I'm trying not to create any new ones for a while! I have like, 4 ongoing stories that my characters exist in, and if I need a new character I try to take one that I've made up before and make them work! Or if I suddenly decide I need a character that tap dances, or plays the oboe, I go through my existing characters and try to see if any of them would do those things, rather than creating someone new who is just...'the tapdancer' xD

Ha, yeah, we do that too - and that's about the number of big ongoing stories we have! xD Yeeeahh. We know the feeling~
