Description
Noah was my favourite character of the teashop crew before I realised he had a journey to go on. He gradually started becoming more and more pompous and selfish until I realised I'd created a bit of a jerk. Hmmm. It's interesting because now he's growing with the story, and if I can start liking him again I'll feel like I've written something worthwhile for him and for myself!Noah's design was based on that of a golden tiger - easily my favourite colouring for a tiger. Except, well, green. Maybe my nostalgic memories of battlecat did that. (Battlecat was always one of the two toys I went for first when I was in playgroup), maybe I was just working from the glade clawsion that represents him on Subeta. I don't know.
He wears patterned waistcoats, this particular one is decorated with cups and saucers. He's not wearing clothes on his lower half here because, well that's the style I've gone for with these guys, but if I were to step up the anthro-ness he'd totally be wearing spats. And have a cane. And talk in a haughty accent. Ugh so pompous.
Actually, I'm having trouble thinking about what his voice would sound like. Possibly Hugh Laurie-in-Jeeves-and-Wooster-esque, but I don't know. Any voices spring to mind to you guys? Has to be English!
Oh yes, and I've been experimenting with simple backgrounds lately. I'm no expert yet XD
Noah is mine, steal him and bad things will happen.

Oooh Rah he looks truly wonderful all shaded! How exciting!
As for voices, Hugh Laurie = awesome. I can kind of see Paul Bettany and I would totally say Liam Neeson execept he's Irish! Colin Firth, definitely a good choice. Ahh, other English actors have completely slipped my mind!

OH I LOVE PAUL BETTANY! Really a lot. I'll have to rewatch a Knight's Tale or Wimbledon and see if I can see Noah's face there. Ugh it's so annoying placing a voice.

He's great, isn't he! Aaah yes, placing a voice is really difficult!

Ohmygod yes Hugh Laurie! GOOD VOICE, YEESSS.
Gaahh, I love Noah, the big jerkwad. He's a bastard... but he's pretty. XD It was amusing to me when he ended up being a bigger jerk than [Wicker]! NOAH, BEIN THE GOOD GUY? UR DOIN IT RONG.
It's nice when characters develop over time. That's the beauty of them, I think.
I love the more realistic style you drew him in here. I already told you, but I'll say it again - his eyes and facial structure in particular are just GORGEOUS. He's much less cutesy and cuddly now. I'd still hug him, though. Just because.
And omgBattlecat... my cousin had all of those He-Man figures and that's the one I always wanted to play with, too! NOSTALGIA AHOY!
I always wanted to be the cool beasties... humans were never quite as fun. XD

I do love Hugh Laurie SO MUCH but I wonder if his English persona is a little /too/ hyperactive for my dear Noah. BUT OMG. I JUST SPENT LIKE 3 HOURS LISTENING TO THE VOICES OF BRITISH ACTORS AND GET THIS.
KENNETH BRANAGH.
Oh gosh I love Kenneth Branagh and he is a mixture of pompous, charming, handsome, rallying, playful, powerful...he is brilliant. He actually has a very similar voice to Hugh, but it's toned down a level. TO THE PERFECT LEVEL. So that's two characters from Much Ado About Nothing I've stolen the voices of, and two names. Doo be doo. Maybe I'll steal Hero's voice for Ragdoll. It is positively darling. Gosh I haven't even thought about the girls voices yet, other than Mercy who had to be Emma Thompson the minute I saw her interacting with Stephen Fry.
OH OH NEWS JUST IN. Wicker is now named Sascha. And is possibly voiced by Alan Rickman. Because I'm also stealing the cast of Harry Potter.
OH THANKYOU FOR LIKING HIS EYES I need to draw them open at some point. Some kind of winking picture, iunno. I feel like he's one of those annoying winkers. Teehee.
HUMANS ARE DEFINITELY NOT AS FUN. For one: you can't write about them doing cool animal things like ripping apart some kind of carcass and it being totally normal and not surprising. Also, much less cool markings. It's all hair lengths and nose size. I WANT A MARKING SHAPED LIKE CANADA ON MY TIGER'S ASS, OK. Oh hold on, you could probably do that with a human too. Darn. Argument falling apart.

OMG ALAN RICKMAH FOR SASCHA IS SO FANTASTIC, YESSSSSSS. And I must youtube Kenneth Branagh!
-laughs- I loove writing about animal characters when it comes to violent things. omg they're the best. Not to mention heightened senses!
I mean you could totally rip off Wolverine (or cheat and have a were-beast, BEST OF BOTH WORLDS) but it's not quite the same. XD

Oh gosh watch his St. Crispin's Day speech from Hamlet V! I love him best in Much Ado About Nothing but he was also Professor Lockheart in Harry Potter xD
...which means I'm just stealing HP voices left and right.
YES. HEIGHTENED SENSES. Also tail swishing and biting, clumps of fur being ripped out, the SOUNDS (I mean, you can make a human roar or bark but it's just not the same). Eeeeeee a fight scene. I've never written one. It's going to suck first time around xD Also I feel like I want to redo Lore again so she's more...creepy. Ugh, just as I finished her nice overlay.

He was! A very cutesy sketch xD One day I just sat down and tried my best to beef him up so he looked like he might be some kind of threat to someone xD

Noah is really cute! I kind of really like the fact that he is green, I don't even like the colour green that much (and subconsciously or consciously, I don't know, but I avoid working with it hahaha) but it suits him really well. I like his face & pose here a lot! Is this a redraw of the sketch that was on his profile or did you just shade it?? Ahaha I can't work it out but it looks fabulous either way!
I really admire how you can draw clothes on animals and make them look really classy and cute, sort of like ... have you ever seen Fantastic Mr Fox? I lovelovelove the way they handled clothes on foxes in that film and your Teashop Crew reminds me of the same thing!
Pompous or not I think he's pretty cute hahaha. Sometimes it's nice having a bit of a jerk character (LOL) but maybe he'll get a bit nicer soon.

I don't think I've ever really used the colour green so largely on a pet before! Hold on let me think. My pet Radish has a green hair tuft...Lore has a bit of a green marking on her...nope, no other mostly green pets! (Well, not including my glade kora which isn't even designed yet) It did just feel right for him, though.
This is a slight redraw of the sketch that was up, yes! It felt too cutesy and babyish to me, I wanted him to look older so I had to out of my comfort zone xD (I just want to draw huge baby eyes and squished together features all the time)
Haha, do the clothes work? I'm never sure. It's really a working progress! I HAVE seen fantastic mr. fox! I loved it a lot. My clothing style was based on Disney's Robin Hood, mostly. I swear none of those characters wear pants, either. Heck, even Donald Duck and Mickey don't like to wear a full set of clothing. It's a good way to live xD
Haha, he can be pompous and still be nice! He just needs to balance out a bit xD He's still going to grimace at the site of shabby furniture, but he won't insult the owner anymore XD

Haha I'm glad you picked it! Oh man funnily enough the only green characters I have are my Glade Popoko & Glade Feli on Subeta, but otherwise I steer clear of it, unless it's for ... eyes or something haha. GREEN IN SMALL AMOUNTS IS OK!
Ohh yes actually I did notice that Noah did look older than what I remembered from the sketch on his profile! I like both. I know what you mean though rofl I just default draw on cute, it's so hard drawing characters that aren't meant to be cutesy/young!
The clothes work for sure! I'm sure I've told you before hahaha seriously I'm not a huge fan of clothes on animals but you make it look so endearing. Fantastic Mr Fox was an awesome movie, yes! Haha I love Robin Hood too, it was one of my favourite movies as a kid, yeah they did classy clohtes on animals too! LOL YES gosh you don't need pants!
Haha oh good! I think Noah is my favourite of the Teashop crew, actually, (even though I don't know much about him! Well, compared to the rest of the crew haha) he's so adorable! Even if he is a pompous classy gentleman hahahaha.

IT IS HARD I AGREE. I've been doing it for so long now it's hard to break the pattern. I don't get how I can love someone else's creepy drawings so much but when I draw them myself my head is telling me 'NO THIS ISN'T ADORABLE ENOUGH. MAKE THE EYES BIGGER.' Stupid head.
xD I really hope that at least next year I can get their basic story down so you can make a more informed decision on who your favourite is!

Alan Rickman! His voice is amazing...and I want him to read me bed time stories
Anthony Hopkins has a nice voice as well, but he might be a bit old...
Jeremy Irons, you gotta love Scar's voice, and this guy is a 'kitty' just like Scar
Jim Cummings, okay so he's not English, but he voices so many characters, I'm sure he could pull it off. He finished 'Be Prepared' after Jeremy Irons through out his voice
Rowan Atkinson, when he's not Mr. Bean, and acting normal...his voice is rather nice
Jason Isaacs, Lucius Malfoy had a very pompous way of talking....

Lol these are all actors that play evil characters! Noah is actually a good guy in the end xD I can't have him voiced by Snape or Malfoy or Scar or Hannibal! (Although I'll keep these actors in mind for my bad guy characters for sure - thank you!)

And Anthony Hopkins has played good guys...he was the Narrator in Jim Carrey's Grinch movie, and he played C.S. Lewis in Shadowlands, which is a really sad movie...

xD HE'S NOT REALLY THOUGH. He's still moody and spiteful and mean. Much too creepy sounding for my handsome boy!
He's supposed to be like, 28ish and the hero of the story eventually. Maybe Colin Firth. I've always liked him...

Picky aren't you? Hugh Laurie is awesome though...and he has a cane.
Ben Whishaw? He was in Bright Star...played John Keats. He's gonna play Ariel in The Tempest. But I suppose if you want pompous, Hug Laurie is the way to go

xDD Your suggestions are all great I'm just...yes. I'm picky xD Noah is important to me! Oh gosh, I think I realised the problem, though. He's not a modern character, and I was looking at modern British actors. I switched to looking at some old moviestars, and I think I found a voice that fits him...I'm going to have to listen a bit longer to check but right now my favourite is James Mason (He played Norman Maine in 'A Star Is Born')
OH GOSH OR CARY GRANT. He's awesome.
I also like Kenneth Branagh, though. He's totally pompous.

fidele In reply to Snufflesforever [2010-11-11 06:22:57 +0000 UTC]
Haha, as old as they come xD He's set in a kind of Victorian era...although not quite because it's alternate reality. I've just spent the past few hours going through the best british actors and listening to sonnets and I'm really looking at Kenneth Branagh now. I loved him in Much Ado About Nothing, but just listening to his St. Crispin's Day Speech from Henry V was enough to convince me! It's just the right mix of pompous, rallying, handsome, powerful. Such a great voice and I'm totally going to hear Noah speaking like that in future xD
I'M ROBBING ALL THE HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS DARN IT. My female dragon has the voice of Emma Thompson. I'm tempted to give Noah's nemesis, a tailless fox named Sascha, the voice of Alan Rickman. Torn between Stephen Fry and Sir John Gielgud for the character Winston, who is Noah's bookish English bulldog friend. I think Fry might be too cool for Winston. I don't know xD

Lol, the Harry Potter movies have some of the best actors ever. It's always fun to think whose voice your character has. I'm actually now thinking Jeremy Irons might fit Imamu, my bloodred Montre...who's not really evil...but still rather, I dunno off, I guess. So the Teashop crew are all British then?

fidele In reply to Snufflesforever [2010-11-11 07:29:52 +0000 UTC]
Yup! Well...actually no, but most of them are xD Of the crew and their nemesis, Noah, Winston, Sascha and Cassian are very English, Gideon is a Scottish dragon, Wood is mute so has no voice actor, Ragdoll and Giselle's voices are yet to be determined although Giselle might be French. Thursday is Japanese, Mercy I've always imagined with Emma Thompson's voice but she's from some kind of Cambodian jungle...I don't know, maybe she learned her English from a tourist or something xD And uh...Lush is also yet to be determined. Yeesh so many characters. Oh and there's another one, but he's not named yet.
I'M SURE THESE NAMES MEAN NOTHING TO YOU BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL MOSTLY STILL CHARACTERS IN MY HEAD!
