Deviation dedicated to and because it was their birthday a couple of days ago.

not only do i like your boxer (it is a boxer breed, right?) but i like the way you take the picture as well. with the house as the background, i thought it really suits the dog.

Figuer In reply to git2 [2009-02-08 10:27:07 +0000 UTC]

it is more a random dog than a boxer, but other people has called it boxer so I guess there is some resemblance.
That picture was hazardous. I took more than 20 pictures with a boring background and only one with this house and this was the picture I liked the most.
Curious thing, I tried to repeat the same background with the other dog and I was not able.

i think it's a good thing we have digicam now, you can take as many pics as possible until you get the one you like most ^^ it's quite refreshing to see scenery as background. most origami enthusiast will just use plain background.

Figuer In reply to git2 [2009-02-08 10:35:38 +0000 UTC]

I use a plain background when I take pictures of geometrical origami.
But with animals I like nature pictures more. And well, it is sort of a tradition now in my gallery. Many of my watchers would be disappointed if I photograph the origami animals with plain backgrounds.

This tailless dog is more popular here in DA than the other.
Maybe it is because the picture or maybe it is cuter.

And here, [link] , you can see models that I have folded but I have not invented myself.

Figuer In reply to GenkiIchigo [2008-12-25 11:04:27 +0000 UTC]

I think it is important to make the best possible picture of the thing you are posting to DA. It can be origami, jewelry, sculpture, plushies, etc.
A "natural" setting helps when showing origami animals. If I was a good photographer I would post studio photographies.

:0 I wanna take him home. How long does it take you to come up with these designs?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Figuer In reply to Flo-Man [2008-12-22 14:49:24 +0000 UTC]

Hi Flo.
With this type of paper I need an hour. I need 20 or 30 minutes to cut the paper and get it ready before to begin with the folding itself. And the folding is 30 minutes more.
But if you ask how much time I need to invent one of these dogs, that is very very random.

Aww, he is so cute! ^__^ I like the way his ears are upright, like he is confident and alert. ^^ I could almost imagine him to start running around at any moment!

Figuer In reply to llifi-kei [2008-12-22 16:22:37 +0000 UTC]

He cannot run It has been frozen with a spell.
I will tell you a secret It is not a paper dog, but a real dog.

wolbashi [2008-12-21 22:53:58 +0000 UTC]

nice paper dog as always, great and etailes work ofcourse as always amazing background. It's sad , but this dog is to small to be a huse guard

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Figuer In reply to wolbashi [2008-12-22 14:58:47 +0000 UTC]

I am glad you like it, Marta.
The background was casual, really. It was getting dark and the pictures of origami animals in the outside does not look well with flash. So I took 35 pictures of the dog in the courtyard hoping to get at least one good picture. Half of them were unfocused or too dark. Only one had this background. In all the other pictures the background was just concrete or moss. I was lucky
About the dog, it is a very brave dog, indeed. But you are right: it is not the best option as a house guard because it is only 8 cm tall
