Description Basically it is better because it is even more accurate than my previous version. This video www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucppTR… helped me, and the user responsible for the video is

I decided to keep the tail sail thanks to what our friend, , shows here brolyeuphyfusion9500.deviantar… . And indeed if you take a closer look at the photo of Stromer's spinosaurus you will see that the tallest sail bone is connected to a vertebra that is also longer than the others, what indicates it was actually part of the caudal vertebrae (in most, if not all, non avian theropods the caudal vertebrae are longer). I also made the tail taller to aid the animal while swimming.

The model and the skin were extracted and converted by me and the skin was made by

PS: extracting and converting models remind me of Val, known as here in DA. She was the one who extracted all The Isle models that I use (and the only Primal Carnage: Extinction model that I use) on my deviations. But By may of this year (if I remember well) she suffered a terrible car accident, being only able to explain the whole thing by the end of August. If you wanna know more I talked about it here: dovahkiinhu3br.deviantart.com/…

I would be very happy if you tried to help her in anyway, be it by praying to her (if you have a religion) or simply by making a deviation about it, or write about it on your journal.

That's an awesome model, I wish there were accurate and good looking dinosaur models out for distribution especially for Spinosaurus (whom's very hard to find a good model)

THANKS!

PS: actually the actual model was not made by me. I just changed the proportions.

This is GREAT! I'm finally glad to see a full side view of this critter.

If possible, do you think you can get the Giganotosaurus from 'The Isle' (the red skinned one, it's my favorite skin on my favorite dinosaur)?

Of course I can. I was considering to include this species on MP: NG, but now that you requested I will surely do it (males will be red and females will be brown).

I mean: if I remember to do that. Skyrim Special Edition is dominating me.

I understand, and I will look forward to when you do have it up...

I was thinking of the reverse, red for females (as the red reminds me of the giant Giganotosaurus Regina fought in Dino Crisis 2 yu-gi-nos.deviantart.com/art/D… and brown for males (but its whatever makes you happy pal )

I see, but I am trying to make accurate anatomies and in birds (the only dinosaurs alive today), usually only the males are red because they need to look attractive for the females.

Talking about accuracy let me explain more deeply (altough there is a similar explanation on my "T. rex Couple" deviations): birds may get reddish, orangish and/or yellowish coloration from carotenoids, a nutrient that is almost exclusively produced by plants. But, as opposed to what many think, carotenoids are usually absorbed without being digested (beta carotene, that can be found in the blood of many animals including us, is an actual carotenoid) and thus a predator could get them from the blood of it's prey (chickens are also a great example: the yellowish fat and the yellow color of the yolk is a result of large quantities of yellow carotenoids placed together, wich means that the chicken absorbed the molecules without digesting it).

Red is a bit more complicated, but many male birds (such as male northern cardinals and scarlet tanagers) have a special enzime that turns yellow carotenoids into red ones, thus giving them red feathers (in the northern cardinal there is even a mutation that makes this gene inactive, reaulting on a male with yellow feathers).

I completely understand (and I agree, as I grew up watching the Northern Cardinals that were exactly what you were talking about).

I did not know about the carotenoids, thank you for the information/educating me

I do know that some birds don't have a difference in male vs female colors (such as eagles/hawks). A bird I hadn't heard before (lives in South America, so no wonder) called the
Vermilion Flycatcher. To quote "Males have striking red underparts that contrast strongly with the brown back, tail and wings. Females are less bold, but still have a red wash on their underparts that can be eye-catching"  I haven't heard of a female bird that shared the same colors as the male, just was less bold.

I had made my 'make it female' comment in jest/joke, sorry for any inconvenience or trouble, but it was educational

You are welcome.

Now that is really unique in birds, but it seems the rule is for males to have more colors and birds like this are an exeption. However if this can be found on some birds, something similar could be found on non avian theropods and now I am going to give both male and female Giga's the reddish skin (not only to make you happier, but to give a more unique touch to it).

I look forward to seeing the final product (whatever you come up with will be great I'm sure).

Until I had looked up that bird, I NEVER knew about that uniqueness in birds. Like you I always thought that male and female birds greatly differed in colors (or were the same colors).

Once again, thank you very much for listening and having this pleasant exchange

Man, I have bad news for you about the color of the model: I did not think about camouflage when we talked about it. It turn out that the red skin would make giganotosaurus a flash light on it's environment, when it should count on camouflage as it should have been an ambush using predator (as it was huge). I will save an image of the red skinned giga spacially for you when I convert the model, but I simply can not make this skin be part of the story of MP: NG.

Yu-Gi-Nos In reply to FiliusTonitrui [2017-01-11 22:34:36 +0000 UTC]

I did not think about that, camouflage in the woods might be a problem if one's skin is red.... unless it lived near the mountains or a volcano where the red and black skin would blend in (though this is a bit of a stretch).

Still, I thank you very very much for the red skin Giganotosaurus especially for me, but sorry that it can't be part of your story. I wish you luck on your story though (again, sorry the red color couldn't help you).

You're in luck, this is the Spinosaurus B model for TI, JP3 inspired. There will be a more realistic one coming when fish are in.

I saw the WIP of that model. The problem is that the tallest sail bone, in the model, is located in the back and not in the tail (as it should be).
