Here I'll make a backstory up, Luigi goes to the new mansion in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Luigi with his trusty Poltergust 3000 goes into the mansion, when suddenly a flash of light appears from the closet down the hallway. Luigi slowly approaches the hall closet and says "Hello?" Fluttershy is seen scared shivering in the corner, Luigi shows that he is no threat and they introduce each other after lots of bouts of cute shyness from Fluttershy. As they go back into the main corridor all the lights go out and for a second and when the lights come back on everything was shifted in different places. The end up back to back as they look at each other scared trying to figure out what is going on.

As in, the legit, real story. "Cannon" generally is applied to the actual show. For example; Pinkie Pie being a happy party pony is cannon. Pinkie murdering her friends and backing them into cupcakes is NOT cannon (thank GOD! (Note: Never read cupcakes.))

Ok, good! I'm glad I don't look like an idiot for explaining everything to a previously educated audience XD

But hey! It's totally ok! I didn't know for a long time. I was like "What the hell is this cannon thing?! WHAT?!" and then I think I either looked it up or asked. I STILL have no idea whatsoever why it's called "cannon" XD

(The moral of the story is that it's ok to be ignorant. Everybody was at one point! )
