Description Well folks, here's what I've been working on for the past few months. Another young Xehanort keyblade. This time I wanted to make sure I did it right, so I took my time since the buyer didn't have a deadline. It has maybe one or two spots that need to be sanded with high grit paper which I'll do after it finishes drying. After that, I'll prime it white so the gray primer doesn't show through the paint.

Remember how I took all those close up shots of the last version of the keyblade Well that waas to show improvement between that one and this one. I wanted to test myself to see if I would actually do better with each version.

You can make that decision yourselves, but I think I have improved on this version so much more.

In case anyone asks:
This is pine wood
It's 4 ft long and weighs around 10 pounds
Carved with a dremel mainly

This looks amazing so far, and it's not even done! I like the texture it seems to have (though it could just be the photo quality, idk either way looks nice) The details seem pretty much spot on, as do all of your Keyblades from what I have seen, and accuracy + details are definitely critical if you hope to sell them (at least with me anyway, I have seen a number of Kingdom Key's I really wanted to buy until I saw there were some major key points that weren't accurate) and you definitely seem to know what you are doing.

Honestly though, I have yet to see a Keyblade maker with higher quality than you, which is why I feel spending $150-$300 on one you have made is definitely worth it.

I also don't think I have seen anyone else attempt this Keyblade yet, perhaps because of the design's complexity. One thing I like about this is that blue jewel, it really stands out against the dark coal color of the blade very nicely. And the gears on the guard almost look like they could actually move, which is very cool! I am really excited to see the finished product of this!

Thanks, xFoxblaze!  There are a few other people who have made this one, but I believe I happened to be the first or one of the first back in Dec 2012.

thanks! My biggest concern was making the recessed areas  on the shaft symmetrical front to back and side to side.

yeah it's starting to look alot better.. EXCEPT the face. WHICH for some reason kinda...looks too soft!.. are you planning to refine it's structure later on?

I'm not sure what you mean by soft....I was going to lower the lowest tuft of fur but I didnt want to mess it up. This is all the shaping I'm going to do

the face looks soft... when I meant soft it looked like... a flatten pancake....

Oh haha that's a funny way to put it. Yeah, the face is kinda flat, but the position of the head othe clock sort of forced me to make it like that. I was going to change the lower tufts like I said, but I didn't want to mess it up. It's at least better than the past versions, so I'm pleased.

You mean your master sword keyblade? That looks amazing! Don't be so hard on yourself. It took me 2 years to get this far, and I want to share anything I know with you guys. If you have any questions or anything, just lemme know.

thanks and its good to have some advice from you.. your righg about the 45 inch blade... since i compared it with the 50 inch keyblade from noname version 2

uhm..

is bondo a clay thing or a plastic thing?

All the young xehanort keyblades I made were 48 inches.

Bondo is a mix of an epoxy and a cream catalyst. It's used mainly for autobody work, but it's extremely useful for propmaking as well.

Woohoo! You finally uploaded! GREAT job! I like how the spikes are actually more three dimensional. It will give more depth and shading without having to do so with painting shade zones! The demon head is very detailed too. And I like your idea with the clock handles will be placed later. Will they move? I thought about doing that and getting one of those kits that actually ticks like a real clock but mine is much too thin to house one.

Anyways, you've really upped your skills! Having no time limit has been good to you. And it shows! Guess this means I need to practice a lot more with my dremel. >.< Oh time, why you no so good to me?! Lol. Can't wait to see the paint job on this beast!

Thanks! I almost left them flat, but I didn't want to just round them. I'm more pleased with the head on this one than the last ones, but I wish I could do something for the eyes. It just didnt look right with eyeballs. The clock hands are a solid separate piece, and once I attach them they won't move. Just so they don't break. That would be really cool if you ended up doing that for the next one you do.

I finally get to use my spraygun for a big project!

I'm glad you decided that! Btw, what dremel tool did you use to carve the spikes with? When I make Rainfell I want to make sure to do it correctly.

Hmmm, maybe gems for eyes? It would be cool if you could put red LEDs in the eye sockets and they could light up. If I ever make another No Name I just might have to try both! lol.

Ah yes, hooray for sprayguns!!

finaformsora In reply to Axelkin [2014-06-09 02:20:27 +0000 UTC]

I just used the sanding bit. I went from low to high grit sanding bands for it. Then there was some grain showing up bumpy, so I added bondo and sanded the rest by hand.

That would be cool, but Idk if I can sculpt the eyes well enough for gems . I know the eyes light up, so I'm gonna at least put some glow in the dark paint in the sockets.

Lol, I just need to sit down and practice, practice, practice then!

Could you find a gem mold and add the molded piece to the sculpt? Maybe cast them with a resign with glow in the dark pigment? Hmmm... is that even possible... *opens up youtube

hmm it is possible and I have some powder to mix in the resin, but I don't really feel like doing it now that it's pretty much done either.
