Description
The life cycle of nixes is rather complex and consist of several stages.

1. Egg
Nixes basically are bipedal land-walking fishes, and they begin their life as an egg. The eggs from all females of the tribe are gathered in special sacred place - "the nursery", there they develop in the care of guardians.

2. Fry
When the young nix hatches from the egg, he or she is nothing but small fish fry, very capable of swimming, but without any trace of intellect. Guardians of the nursery escort fries back to the tribe settlement then they are grown up enough. Unfortunately, despite all guardians' efforts, there are high death rate among the fries.

3. Water Imp
At the age of 3-5, the fry begins to transform into true nix baby. Its finns develop into limbs, its tail disappear, and its brain grow rapidly. These funny little creatures are called "water imps", for they are mischievous and often play various pranks around the riverbank.

4. Adults
At the age of 10-12 the nixes became fully amphibious - their leg-finns grow strong enough to support their bodies, and arms develop dexterous fingers to manipulate objects properly. From now on, they can walk on land for about a week without even touching water.
