it's cool that the hieroglyphics say something. is this saying that after he returned in canon, it affected ancient history and he literally "came back" so now in the present day history has been altered so that he disappeared again?

yeah i mainly don't understand why everything about him in the past was erased. like why would past-seto do that? it sets up this big thing in present day where he can't remember who he is and needs that info in order to stop the bad guy at the end in the final climax, so....? it makes more sense if zorc is the one who erased all evidence of him so that info couldn't be used against him and if they had yami bakura actively making sure those relics and stuff and clues pertaining to it got ruined. like how dartz destroyed the atlantis ruins because they were getting too nosy and about to figure out what he was doing. but yami bakura kinda doesn't really do anything meaningful through the whole series. he's just there. there is a similar thing in xenosaga where "that guy who was always just kinda around turns out to be behind it all at the end" but that guy was doing stuff though. you didn't understand what he was doing at the time but you knew something was going on and it all makes sense at the end. yami b spent his time putting his soul in a piece of the puzzle for... no reason... no payoff to that, and stealing the eyeball and trying to steal the rod only to... give that stuff to yugi at the end? like... just.... !? and let's not even bother mentioning the "trying to steal mokuba's body back at duelist kingdom" because that doesn't make any sense in english OR japanese lol
and THEN there's dark side of dimensions where the ring starts doing stuff and i'm like... but why tho. zorc/yami b aren't in it anymore? what's going on? e.e the ring itself has its own will even with no spirit inside it? what the fluff. and after making a big thing out of "there's no one in the puzzle anymore" but there's apparently still something in the ring? it made it look like "whoever has the ring turns evil" and yami b never really "existed" at all it's just that wearing the ring made ryo nuts. like he even says "it was the ring that did it" like there was never a spirit in there at all and the ring itself is evil and i'm like yeah let's just delete that character, it's not like he was the main central antagonist behind everything in the final climax or anything. !?!?

oh gosh i forgot about that capsule thing lol xD i made a joke comic about it once, well kinda, the ending is like... *digs around in old acc* omg here it is :'D
only part relevant to this conversation tho is the end of it. but yeah gosh i forgot they also did the "the ring is just evil by itself" bit
and while i'm digging around over there here's the butt shot i was talking about in the other comment too
or at least i hope that other comment about the "upskirt screenshot" was to you otherwise you'll have no idea what i'm talking about :'D
fun fact tho there is no jp version of the capsule thing. it was created entirely by the people who do the dubbed version

tyty
kaiba gets a lot of.... weirdly suggestive angles. like there's a lot of "he's sitting at his desk and the camera does a crotch shot" moments, and there was one while he was flying his jet too. i call them "blowjob angles"lol. i love it. you never see sexy shots of guys instead of girls outside of yaoi/girl's anime genres and for some reason it does seem to be him more than the other characters

kaiba fits pretty well with that rapey seme stereotype crap where a guy gets raped but "actually likes it" and the falls in love with his sexy rapist who "just can't control himself because he likes him so much" i hate those kinds of manga and what i hate more is the comments posted about how hot it is and how much people like that crap, ugh
but it's usually the uke person who gets all the sexy/objectifying art and angles tho and we noticed a pattern of "his character only evolves each time he loses" where his victories are always minor and he only has real character development/progress through being humiliated

that is a common fanfic trope and gozaburo did put a collar on seto in the manga. i've not seen all the mange, just the anime, and in the anime i thought even in the dub that the kind of trauma kaiba has was similar to sexual abuse trauma ( like he doesn't like to be touched and stuff, even the season 0 green guy slapped yugi for touching him ) and suspected that's what happened because i couldn't think of anything worse to do to a person but then i saw season 3 in jp and they actually did have gozaburo do something even worse than that, which was when he used seto's gaming program as a weapon and killed a bunch of people. i thought that added tremendous depth to kaiba's character that the event that traumatized him most was not something being done to him personally like rape but the fact other people died because of something he made that he intended to be used for entertainment to "heal people's hearts" and whatnot. sure "something awful happened to me personally" is a fine character motivation but "something awful happened to someone else because of me against my wishes" was more interesting to me because it showed that he really cared about other people and that's the whole reason he wanted to get into games and theme parks. his true core desire is to make people happy so using his technology to hurt people is what broke him. i really liked that about him
there's implied sexual abuse in the anime with that bully that was gonna rape anzu and noah being all touchy-feely on mokuba and the bullies in dsd calling aigami "cute" and getting ready to video tape him so i think if there was meant to be the same thing between gozaburo/kaiba they wouldn't have bothered editing it out but they didn't do the collar thing in the anime. i think they still had a guy using a horse whip on him but in the manga it was gozaburo that used it on him so maybe something was toned down or changed or they also thought the weapon thing was a more interesting character motivation
i had always wanted kaiba to find yugi's collar sexy in my fanfics and in the anime it would be fine but in the manga world, if a collar was used to abuse him then i don't think it would bring back very good memories for him

That's an interesting concept actually. I mean what if Kaiba's whole reason he doesn't like Yugi at the beginning is actually because of the fact he wears a collar and then later it became about duel monsters? Like what if Yugi just reminds him of where he came from by wearing it and the fact that he has can play the game without going through the same abuse he went through is just a sore spot for him.

we toyed around with some fanfic ideas that he hates yugi because it reminds him of who he was back before his life fell apart, when he was an innocent kid and trusted people and believed in the good of humanity and all that, but then everybody betrayed him and he woke up to how the real world works. he see's yugi as that kid he used to be and think he needs to have the same wake-up call and kaiba's gonna teach him the truth of reality and so on etc. and yeh like you said there, in addition he'd also see the collar as a reminder of back when he was weak and being dominated by other people and how much he hated it
but we dropped it tho after realizing kaiba doesn't hate yugi at all and actually respects and admires him ( well both of them ) and has this odd sort of quirk where he seems to try to deliberately avoid hurting yugi and tries to focus on atem instead and is annoyed when yugi gets in his way but not in the "i'll mow you down to get what i want" but more in the "i don't want to hurt you so step aside" kind of frustration way. he says there's no entertainment in defeating weak people and with how protective he is of his little brother and how he sympathizes with the war victims and wants to make kids happy and stuff i think yugi triggers his protective personality. he probably doesn't like that so it's annoying but it makes him unable to see yugi as a threat/enemy/adversary that he should take seriously. i donno it's hard to explain and my mind is mush lately

By the way I actually translated into hieroglyphics the message. I'll upload the symbols and key for those wishing to translate and read what it says. ;3
