What if the British maintained their promise with the Arabs at the end of the First World War? Very likely the Hashemite family would have gained control of what is now Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria. Salafism never rises to prominance, Islamist terror groups never have significant financial support, and the pro-Jewish Arab rulers maintain peace with their neighbors in Jewish Palestine into modern times. The reason terrorism exists as it does today is because the British decided to promise land to the Arabs and then hand it over to the French instead.
