Yes ... I was always taught that if you let them be - no pun intended - they would do the same. I guess knowing that death will follow an attack makes for more thought about taking the first move.
Wish it were so for humans.

Bumblebees do not die form stinging their enemy. Their sting is mostly for defense and to threat their enemies... Bumblebees prefere to bite

But you are right, we humans can learn a lot from the animals
