After another successful (?) tournament round, Louis sits down for his first real call with his "Mysterious Benefactor," who seems keen on helping him prepare for the upcoming Gala...

A couple hours before the gala began, Louis received a video call from his sponsor Fletcher. Louis had enjoyed doing this job for Fletcher quite a bit, even if it had been rather different from what he’d expected from the description. He also found Fletcher himself very… nice to talk to. And to look at. And to think about. Not that he thought about him that much!!
The call was sweet. Fletcher wanted to check in on his team and make sure they were having fun while he was away on his business. Aside from some pouting by Shrike, they were elated to see their trainer again, even if only through a screen. Fletcher, in turn, was ecstatic to see them doing so well in the tournament.
“You have a unique talent for battle. Very unconventional,” he proclaimed with a teasing smirk. His eyes crinkled in delight as the praise made Louis squirm in his seat.
“What? Me? Nooo, that’s not… nooo. The others are probably going easy on me because I’m new.” Louis’ blush was threatening to break through his tanned face and maybe even the hands that were covering it.
“Heh, please. I’ve seen Suzie battle. Going easy isn’t even an option for her. And that Aine girl wanted it enough to trip you up herself.”
“Well, yeah… maybe… But it’s your team that’s doing most of the work.”
“You got me there. I’m lucky to have them,” his eyes drifted over Louis’ shoulder to the snug bug in the bed behind him. “Wurmy’s something else too, though. Is he adjusting to the new form okay?”
“He still forgets he has wings sometimes, but other than that I think he’s happy with his evolution. He just wanted a nap before the gala.”
“Oh yeah, that reminds me. I got you a little gift for that. Should be up pretty soon.”
“A gift?”

A/N: Got badly sick again the last two weeks so these are coming a bit late, but I figured they're only kinda pseudo-canon* anyway so?? Expect to see the rest of these crop up tonight / over the weekend as my bf and I complete them! We've got 9 mini arts with drabbles including this one lined up to go that'll basically just cover some headcanoned interactions, the 'mons getting up to shenanigans, and even some surprise background info on Louis... very juicy stuff. >:3c This first "page" in particular features the heretofore unseen character who's the entire reason Louis is here to begin with; a man who'll be receiving a proper ref sheet when I get the time to work on it next week. XD

*In terms of how other characters appear and plot-relevant events happen, at least.
