Well, why shouldnΒ΄t a swordman NOT have intellectual qualities? I think you cannot be stupid or very simple-minded an be a good (= successful) warrior... Especially for Chinese swordmen, I think, there is always an intellectual dimension of their skills.

Absolutely agree with your description. He has this calm aura to him and an intelligent glint in his eyes. He's relaxed, but I'm sure he's not only smart but very skilled at the sword. He has this kind of deadly grace to him.
I really love your use of the blues in all colors and hues and his clothing, wow! it's beautiful! Really lovely character!
