A break from my CT run. Yo, Mana fans! ... we meet again
Back when I did my mana run I never got to do this, but it was always on a wishlist... Matango with Flammie.
Did you know there's a grand total of *ZER0* artwork for this part of the game? That's crazy! I know it's not particularly interesting area but you'd think someone out there would give it a spin. I guess today that someone is me! Totally reworking Matango to be deep into nature. I imagined what Flammie would feel like, growing up knowing their parents are off somewhere fighting, looking outward and knowing just by instinct if the heroes were OK.

That aside, this is a great piece! I love love love the colors and lighting I think you did a beautiful job. Especially on the trees up top! I also love that kooky building on the hill, I think it has an awesome design. AND the creature on the buildings, at first I didn't really get they were windows because I thought it was a flower or something, but then they popped at me and I love them a ton as well. The whole thing is awesome! I just wish it had some more hours or rendering, just because I am more a fan of detailed and not brush strokey digital paintings. But that's just me

Thanks, for me pieces that are spur of the moment tend to be rougher or more impressionistic, you can usually tell if I planned something if it's got a more detailed approach. I liked the looseness of the brush strokes for this one though, sort of falls right in line with the swaying leaves in the wind I have in my head and captured a sense of motion.

I knew it when I saw the feathery wings, they're gorgeous creatures I'm loving the color blend, the purple pink and blue and the background is something that should belong in a movie honestly

Yeah Flammie! The best dragon ever? Possibly. Good to know you could tell it's a flammie, the blue fringe on the wings is a key element so I wanted to push it into being more magical, they are related to the manabeast afterall.

Thanks! Matango was a pleasure, nice calm blues and greens. I don't imagine the mushroom people would have time to build anything for Flammie so he just sleeps on a roof!

Yep no artwork, not even ancient drawings from young fans in pencils that most of the oldschool games have plenty of! At least none that I could find.
Thanks, I juggled with a few ideas for what to do with Matango and Flammie. I debated having it storming in rain and lightning but opted for a more serene scene with moonlight.

Okay, now that you mention it, that is crazy. Β And it's a very great part of the game. Β In fact, my favorite part of the game is when Flammie suddenly came over to rescue you from the burning Imperial Castle

Yeah! That rescue scene was great, it was definitely on my list back when I made a whole lot of mana art but just never got around to it. Back on Spectrum, someone else was supposed to claim Matango but never committed and followed through so they would of had the world's first.
