What I do is take a careful look at what I'm replicating and think carefully about what pieces would best give the body an accurate shape. For example: when doing a rounded body I'll usually used sloped pieces and such.

Well you see with a Mixel with a body shape like Booger's you should have slope pieces facing left and right as well as backwards. That gives the body a rounder appearance.
