Not every encounter with a Nidrakian dragoness ends with the human devoured. If you are alone, sure, but many groups of soldiers, mercenaries, hunters and general magic users exist. Humanity would have long died out if they didn't possess the means to fight and even thrive in spite of the ravenous dragonesses. Here, neither side can be said to be winning yet. The dragoness has sustained some injuries and the hunters some casualties but the outcome is still uncertain.

Just wanted to do a piece that shows the humans of Nidraka actually being competent and not just food that tries to run away.
