Description
EDIT (2th Feb 09): Color, detail correction for prints.~
Once a glorious civilization, the city of Atlantis sank beneath the sea after a catastrophic-proportion disaster. Millennia after, the knowledge and culture of the Atlantian had faded with time. The light of the once proud city shines still, penetrating the deepest depth in the ocean.

This is a beautiful rep of Atlantis. There's so much bad,over-hyped fantasy art going around about the legend...you've given me some hope that there can still be feeling in digitally done fantasy landscapes.

That house with the arches making a sort of coliseum shape, right up there near the top. Looks like the one in Rome,it looks...familiar. Weird. Such a familiarity doesn't exist unless it's connected to the one who experiences it somehow. such feelings I've seen in games usually arise from a connection to ancient ancestors or a past life.

Hey! There's my house in my first life! It looks lonely, and cold, and familiar...Yes, I am Atlantean Royalty. The only royal member that was smart and still is smart enough to pry through reality and the spirit worlds intricacies

This is definitely one of those masterpieces to marvel at. First of all, I REALLY love the colours. I think its a good idea that you kept the choice of colours simple and monochromatic because this gives a perfectly calm, soft but somehow vibrant tone to the image. Its also nice how the tiny fishes enhance the majestic size of the architecture and I like the composition and contrast of this piece. Its well planned. The intensely bright light at the top left quickly draws attention to the viewers when its only the right buildings that should be noticed. This tells the viewer that Atlantis is hidden in the deep depths of the sea.
Although, I feel that you could've put in a bit more details to the fishes. It took me a while to grasp the fact that they're fishes and not some white specks drifting in the sea. The very distant pattern of (black) fishes were also hard to spot so maybe you could made them bigger or herd them together to form a more recognizable silhouette.
All in all, I agree with what the DD suggester said. Though Atlantis may be forgotten and even abandoned, but there still appear to be something "alive" in this picture of it. Just splendid.

It's true that if there's anything I'd like to change, I'd add more signs of fishes at closer up to create that truly breathing environment. But alas, it was done a long time ago and in a 3 day limit.
Thanks for your comment!

Whoa, in a 3 day limit and you could make something like that? Wow. The struggles of an artist huh? I see. You did the best you could for the piece and thats what really counts.
You're welcome.

I use Photoshop. To control the pressure, you can set the opacity and size under the brush settings to "pen pressure" if you have a tablet.
