Cowboy: Trenton Wisneski
Horse: Lucifer

"Congratulations, sir, you'll be riding Lucifer" The registry lady announced with a sickly sweet smile. As soon as the stallion's name was uttered, there was a mix of emotions from the cowboys in line behind Trent. A lot of the boys breathed a sigh of relief to hear they would not have to ride him. A couple of them started to chuckle.
"'Yer a dead man, Trenton" one burly man said, clapping his hand on the smaller boy's shoulder. "It was nice knowin' ya" He muttered as he walked away with his envelope. Trent turned around to face the other boys. His eyes were met with apologetic glances and fearful gazes.
He can't be that bad Trent thought. He would soon be proven wrong.

As the day of the Rodeo went on, some stormy clouds rolled in.
"Wonderful" Trent breathed, looking up at the ominous sky. All of the dangerous events took place at night, and Trent feared they would be cancelled due to the weather. Fortunately, it held up, and it was soon time for Trent to meet Lucifer.
As he neared the gates, he could hear a ruckus. The banging of hooves on metal, angry snorts, and the colorful language of the rodeo hands filled the brisk night air. As he made his way over, he could hear two men in the stands wagering their money over him.
"That kid won't last five seconds on that beast!"
"Five's stretchin' in, he won't last two! Have you seen that devil buck? It's like nothing I've 'er seen."
The men shook on their bet and tipped their hats to Trent as he strode by.
Trent prepared to mount the stallion. It kept staring at him with his amber eyes. They looked almost red in the dim lighting of the arena. Trent stared back, determined to prove all the doubters wrong. He sat down, arm extended, while the announcer introduced him and the ebody horse. With a nod of this head, and the snort of Lucifer's nose, the gates opened.
Much of what occurred was a blur. Trent struggled to hold tight while Lucifer bucked as if he was possessed to do so. The horse never slowed, and he bucked more than the spectators thought possible. Some people gasped, some cheered. Both just fueled Trent to hold on tighter. After at least seven grueling seconds, Lucifer picked up pace. Cowboys rarely made it past four seconds with this stallion, and he had a reputation to uphold. Thunder growled loudly in the skies, and before he knew it, Trent was on the ground.
The wind was knocked out of him when he landed, and he got a mouthful of sand. As he opened his eyes, he saw two glowing red eyes a a cloud of white smoke approaching fast. He rolled out of the way and lept to his feet, hitching a ride with one of the cowboys in the ring. Lucifer went mad, bucking and lunging twords anyone in the ring he could get to. Catching him by surprise, the cowboy who picked Trent up leaned down and spoke to him.
"Nice ride kid, welcome to the rodeo"
