Description
Hey! I'm sorry it's been so long; I've been busy and most of my drawings are now either in pencil or quickly-erased whiteboard marker... I haven't finished most of the stuff I did on the computer ^^'But one day, I just felt like drawing Brightheart, and decided to make a speedpaint of it. I kinda failed at videoing absolutely everything I did, but I turned one of my pencil-and-paper drawings into this!
So... I hope you enjoy ^^
Note: If it looks different now than it did before, I'm still fixing tiny things when they bug me. Like the original shading on her face... ^^
Note 2: Are her eyes blue or green?

She's crying because she remembers the days when she used to be beautiful, without scars criss-crossing her face and marring her appearance. She used to be beautiful. As for the "smile"... I decided to put a scar up at the top of her lip, giving her a permanent grimace.

Yeah, when I was drawing her, I was going to give her green eyes too, but looked it up to make sure... I wonder where it was stated though. I mean, there has to be some reason everyone thinks her to be green-eyed...

Oh totally, blue just seems a little boring and not quite as alert as green.
It was stated on page 7 of The Last Hope that she has blue eyes ^^

Cuz I was so sure before that book came out that they were green cuz I remember thinking once "ha funny her eyes are like Firestars" and I'm pretty sure Firestars eyes are green lol XD

If you read the books, half of Brightheart's face was damaged severaly by dogs, including her eye getting ripped out. Wouldn't that take out her ability to cry on that side of her face?

Well... actually, cats don't have tear ducts, really. Their eyes crust when they have sinus problems (hereditary in Persians), or when they're sick, but they don't actually have the ability to cry... at least if I understood the vet right.
So I figured that if I'm going to give her tear ducts and the ability to cry, then she'd have tear ducts in both sets of eyes. I also figured that her eye being clawed out wouldn't hamper the tear ducts' abilities at all. So... that's what I decided ^^

Oh. Yep, as much as I love cats, I don't know much about their anatomy.
I don't think many people know cats don't have tear ducts, because I've seen a lot of people with drawings of cats crying.

I drew a picture where one of the cats was crying, and decided to look it up after... I think a lot of people do it to show the emotion regardless of anatomy, others just don't know, and there are also people who do it because it's their style. There's one person who drew two cats kissing because it is how their style works ^^

Hmm. I just researched if cats have tear ducts, and yes, they do have tear ducts, but their tear ducts only function to keep their eyes wet. Otherwise, they are unable to cry. If their eyes dried out, they would become blind, hence why they have tear ducts.

Thank you! I noticed that most of the art focused on her face alone, and basically made half of it pink with a missing eye, and decided that if she had been that wounded there, there would have had to be more wounds than that... so I figured that I might as well be the one to draw them! ^^

Huh... green eyes are amazing, but I used Wikipedia as my resource to figure them out and it said they were blue ^^
Hold on; I'm going to look in the book...
I just looked through the a couple of books from the first, third, and fourth arcs and it doesn't mention her eye color in the allegiances.. if you can find proof of her green eyes though, from anywhere, I'd really be glad if you showed it to me so I can fix the mistake ^^

IWikipedia isnt always right. In the book 'Cats of the Clans' , an official book by Erin hunter, there is a picture of her and she has a green eye.
