First commission of the new batch, a sitting Derpy with half-folded wings for . I love how she turned out! She looks so sweet :3 And thanks to the commissioner for requesting such a sweet project
I used chenille wires in her wings, so they are not only posable but they flutter gently when you move her!

Aw it looks so cute! I love how you manage to make the eyes and cutie marks only usingΒ applique! Can I ask how you do the placing of the eyes and ears? Like with the cutting out of the slits for the ears how do you make sure that it's all lined up and stuff?

I actually stitch the ears on by hand after the head is stuffed, so placement is easy. Getting the eyes placed more evenly is more difficult - I usually sew one where I want it, then lay the pieces for the other side of the head over it and flip it to get the positioning right. I've tried just measuring the positioning, and it almost always turns out crooked.

Just to let you know she has arrived safe and sound and is settling in nicely, she turned our really really well, and the flat tail does really work! With those things until you see it in real life it can be hard to tell.

Oh, by the way - with the wings, they have springy chenille wires in them, so if you want to get them posed in a certain way, you have to "overbend" them and then let them spring back a little to get them the way you want. Don't be afraid to bend the wings around - they're solid pieces of fabric and should be very sturdy.
