Description
MY HAAAAAAAAAND *hand sizzles and falls off*This took four days. FOUR DAYS. To finish drawing and coloring! But I am very proud of it. I've had this idea in my head for a while now, and I first drew it in art a while back, but then I lost it so I had to restart it in my sketchbook.
This is probably one of my best works, especially because of the shading/highlights with the fire
Ember here has just figured out how to use the move 'Fire Spin', and she is in awe of it.
By the way, try to comment if you fav it too! I'd like to know why you like it so much! 8D
First sketch, then colored in colored pencil

This is one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen, at least at an emotional level. The composition of the picture suggests a sort of fiery dance, and Ember's upward gaze shows Hope. The beautiful shading of the eyes and the highlight within the iris emits a dazzling sort of aura, and the shape of her mouth represents Awe. To me, the atmosphere of this piece conveys the universal theme of Freedom and the fact that the flames seem to be rising and Ember floating along with it gives a sense of Freedom that words cannot express.
The colors are wonderful also. Let's begin with the background. The dark color, in this case, brownish black, goes perfectly with the rest of the picture. Another lighter color will never do. For Ember, the Vulpix, your choice of reddish-brown as the color of the main body brings the picture into a sort of harmony. From all the pictures I've ever seen of Vulpix, the colors were always different. Some were orange, some red, others brown, and many a combination of the three. In this case, a pure red or orange or even brown would ruin the shining effect. It is with and expertly done combination and highlight of the three that makes this Vulpix more beautiful than any other. The highlights are especially wonderful on the ears and the main body. This picture realistically shows the effects of light, in this case, Fire, on the body of the Pokemon.
You have chosen wonderful hues for the fire, and the glorious shades of Fire upon the dark background brings a divine sense into the whole atmosphere of this picture.
I do not know, however, whether you intended for the flames near the top of the picture to be different from the bottom. But it seems to me that the shading of the flames is a little uneven, especially on the top left corner. The colors there are most brilliant, and maybe it would improve the atmosphere of the picture is the colors of the flames gradually changed instead of suddenly diminishing when passing under another swirl of flames. For Ember herself, I would suggest that you maybe position the tail at a different angle, because the angle right now does not seem to fit as well as the rest of her body.
But these are only minor suggestions, as the picture itself is too wonderful to be described accurately with words! A picture is worth a thousand words. I always love to give comments to people who desire to improve and aren't on deviantArt just to show off their works and collect Favs. The fact that you wrote "By the way, try to comment if you fav it too! I'd like to know why you like it so much! 8D" in your comments show that you are trying to become an even better artist! And as I must say once and once again, great job with this picture and I'd love to see more from you!

Wow. And yet another amazing critique. I did realize that the fire did look a little off, especially since there was so much extra space in the bottom right. But since i had already colored most of the fire before I realized that, I was unable to fix that. And now that I look at it, I agree with you on the tail. It is positioned a bit awkwardly and doesn't flow as well as the rest of the body. Thanks again for the amazing review
