Ok before I'll get some negative comments from the bronies, let me make things clear. I'm just only sharing my thoughts.I like MLP:FIM and I do think it's a good show but Im not gonna act like it's The Best Thing ever or even that great. So here are the reasons why:
* I seen greater things than MLP:FIM
Like Avatar The Last Airbender, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Samurai Jack, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Pixar, Pokemon, and Dreamworks
* The Characters arent really that special
Even though the characters are good and well written but we already seen those type of characters before.Β We have the tomboyish character, the sweet one, the sniffy one, the dorky one, the stereotypical country accent, etc. Those ponies arent really that fresh and new. I knew some characters around this decade who are more special like Stan from Gravity Falls, Aang from Avatar, Garnet from Steven Universe, WALL-E, Po from Kung Fu Panda, and Tony Stark/Iron Man.
* It's not a masterpiece
Even though this show can be creative, has some well written episodes and good songs, but its not a perfect show. It has flaws and it does have bad episodes like Dragon Quest, One Bad Apple, and Somepony to Watch Over Me.Β
* Equestria Girls
Ok I'll be honest, I think the whole equestria girls thing kinda sucks. It's just a typical high school teen/romantic comedy cliche that has been done to death. Saved by the Bell, High School Musical, Monster High, Ever After High, and Disney's Descendants. It's just another cash grab. And the whole thing was pointless.
* The Bronies
Ok I do not mean all of the bronies and I'm sure some of them are pretty decent people but other bronies can be really insane and rabid.
Plus the animation is good and the designs are decent but it will never compete with Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Disney, and Avatar
Look, if this show is still your favorite that's cool. But I just dont think it's really that spectacular. And come on, Bronies it's not like MLP:FIM is The only great thing happening in the world. There are plenty great things out there waiting for you to witness.

The reason of Equestria Girls toy line is because Mattel has made Monster High. It was followed by Ever After High, after MH.
I think those types of toys about romantic comedy high school teenage themed are made when Mattel and Hasbro had those ideas because the girls like those types of stories.
And yes, Hasbro has a rival company, it's Mattel. Their Equestria Girls toy line from Hasbro was a response to Mattel's Monster High. Hasbro and Mattel are competitors since their ages.

Considering the screw ups season 7 is going through right now, Equestria Girls is looking better by the minute. Besides that, Equestria Girls is what introduced me to this show. So I have some sort of bias for that series.

Look. I'm going to admit that I myself am a brony. I myself enjoy the show, but I'm willing to admit it has its flaws and it's far from perfect.

I enjoy the show but I prefer Steven Universe anyday over MLP.

While I still like the show, you are not wrong acknowledging it's' faults.
There are some problems with the show that have been bugging me for some time now.
1. The Instant Redemptions
Starlight Glimmer's reformation is the last one I will be tolerating for a while now. It is unorthodox to redeem someone right off the bat for putting the fabrics of space and time in danger of being exploited by the MLP equivalent to Bill Cipher. Plus, I still stand on my stance that her excuse for her actions is complete bullshit, regardless of how much I have warmed up to her recently. The Crystalling did a better and flexible job with her redemption in comparison to the Season 5 finale, but even then, Sunset Shimmer did this far better in Rainbow Rocks.
It seems that the show's new writers don't seem to know how redemption should work, in spite of solid episodes like Amending Fences. It's a shame really, as Steven Universe is doing a far better (and realistic) job redeeming it's antagonists than anything MLP's been trying to hammer lately. Then again, Josh Haber isn't exactly one of the show's best writers, honestly speaking.
2. The Questionable Handling of Discipline
This is in light of just how easily Starlight avoided retribution for tampering with the space-time continuum. It bugs me that the show would rather punish the CMCs for helping out a troubled individual, yet Starlight gets off scot-free for messing with history. I'm sorry, but this is not okay, even for a cartoon, which sucks, since Gravity Falls had Dipper and Mabel making it up to Blendin' for inadvertently costing him his job and putting him behind bars.
3. Inconsistencies in Characters and Plots
It's gotten to the point where the Idiot Ball is previlant in many episodes, when there could have been a more realistic and intelligent approach to a solution. The worst offender would probably be Fluttershy, honestly speaking. This point is self explanatory, so there's no need for me to go over this.

In my opinion, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe and Avatar: The Last Airbender aren't much better than MLP, and I think Lesson Zero was worse than One Bad Apple. Β But I do agree with you that MLP's not the best thing ever. Β And I don't even care for the show anymore.

I agree. It's really not the greatest thing ever, mostly because a majority of the fans are awful.
