Description Take a look around don't you see it?
See that you are the only real face in the room
No one here has a clue what you're feeling
Don't feel bad keep your sadness alive

Tonight was the night. It was the night of the formal and everything was perfect. She had her brand new gown; long black and silk with silver lace trimmings. He dress was beautiful her green eyes shined brightly with happiness and her date was gorgeous, the heartthrob of school. He was tall with brown eyes and black hair.

Look at all these happy people
Living their lives
Look at all these plastic people
There’s nothing inside
Look at all these shallow people
Telling their lies
Look at all these empty people, people

As she walked into the door she could stop the ecstasy from showing in her features. A famous band began to play. She had herd of the a few times but never paid attention, and tonight was such a big night the band didn’t matter. The four men lined up on the small stage with microphones and instruments in hand. Her date let go of her hand and after a moment or so she realized just in time to see him being led to the dance floor with the slut of the school. Briefly he turned and looked at her smiling, with a small shrug he kept walking after the bicycle.
She sighed but ignored it, it was a special night, it was her formal and she would love every second of it.

Don't you know that misery loves company
Yeah I heard, that misery was looking for me
Happiness is a face that don't look good on me
Yeah I heard, that misery comes looking for me
Woah, misery's my company
Woah, misery is looking for me
Looking for me

After an hour her smile was just a ghostly shadow on her face as she sat in a corner of the room as half the girls in her year gave her date lap dances. Those who went with him were screaming along to the song being played by the band.

The hands are up now
Everybody's singing, everybody's moving
They've programmed their feelings
They're synchronizing and criticizing
Don't feel bad keep your sadness alive

She looked up to see the lead singer leaning towards the crowd singing every word with passion, which entrapped the crowd. She saw his eyes flicker over to her and held her own for only a second as he sung the words-

Look at all these happy people
Living their lives
Look at all these plastic people
They're dying inside
Look at all these shallow people
Telling their lies
Look at all these empty people, people

She smiled at him, but it was a hollow smile and he had looked away before the movement even caught his eye. She sighed with nothing better to do she walked off to the bathroom. As she walked in she could hear the tell tale voices of the plastic girls from her grade, clearly bagging someone out. When they said her name she stopped before they saw her around the corner. “He totally only brought her because he left it to late and everyone else had dates. Did you see him dancing tonight? No way he even cares that she came with him. He just wants to get back with his slutty ex,” the rest she didn’t hear, she ran from the bathroom, silent tears running down her painted face.

Don't you know that misery loves company
Yeah I heard, that misery was looking for me
Happiness is a face that don't look good on me
Yeah I heard, that misery comes looking for me
Woah, misery's my company
Woah, misery is looking for me

Just to make matters worse she pressed the button for the elevator to find when it opened her date and his slut of an ex girlfriend making out in the elevator. With a sound mixed between a growl and a choke she ran again into the stairwell and cried into her hands.

Don't you know this misery loves me
Don't you know this misery loves me
Don't you know this misery loves me
Don't you know this misery loves me
Loves me

The night that was meant to be perfect turned out to be atrocious. “You know, misery loves company,” said a somewhat familiar male voice from in front of her.
Without looking up she tried to hide her tears and managed to say, “so I’ve herd,” remembering the song that was playing recently.
“You look beautiful, you shouldn’t cry over some asshole,” the male voice said again, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

So you're tired of running
You're tired of hurting
You're tired of living in their lie
You're tired of listening
You're tired of hurting
Keep your sadness alive, alive, alive

Shocked she looked up to see the lead singer of the band standing over her with a smile in his lips. “Hey, you” she said in a voice that could either be taken as a friendly greeting or a stunned statement.
He just smiled and held out his hand, “dance with me?”
At his words she couldn’t help but blush and smile. Without waiting for an answer he pulled her to her feet, wiped away the drying tears from her cheeks and lead her to the stage were his band was performing.
“Joel, were have you been?” asked one of the guitarists as he pulled her on stage.
“Chill Billy, I promised this girl a dance,” Joel replied.
A guy who was almost identical to Joel handed him the mike “whatever dude,” he said with a smile, “let’s just play,”
They started playing again, and Joel sang with the mike in one hand and danced with her with the other, a smile on both their lips, it turned out to be a great formal after all.
She didn’t even notice the jealous glares the popular girl and her date were giving her.

Don't you know that misery loves company
Yeah I heard, that misery was looking for me
Happiness is a face that don't look good on me
Yeah I heard, that misery comes looking for me
Don't you know, misery loves company
Yeah I heard, that misery was looking for me
Happiness is a face that don't look good on me
Yeah I heard, that misery comes looking for me
Woah, misery's my company
Woah, misery is looking for me
