is a trendsetter! XD She made an Inuyasha piece called "Kagome Is", which is not only well-drawn and funny, but supports one of my favorite things--canon. Firestar loves canon and will always support that which is ACTUALLY IN CHARACTER. Anyway, the idea was contagious and other artists made similar pieces for other Inuyasha characters. Eventually, it spread to other fandoms, such as Metroid and The Phantom of the Opera. I believe is doing a Danny Phantom piece, and she was nice enough to point me in the direction of 's "Character Is" journal, where she graciously leaves the project open to anyone who wants to participate. That can be found here: [link]So here's my "Sam Is" piece. I think Sam is a really cool character, so hooray for her. I also think canon is awesome. Hooray for canon! *throws confetti*.
This was done in a B pencil and colored on Photoshop Elements, and it seemed to take forever, but Firestar had plenty of time this week to work on it, since she now is distinctly lacking a job. XD
Thanks to for opening her project and giving me permission to do this, and thanks to for bringing it to my attention! Hooray for cool people. XD

Not to start an argument of something, but for someone who doesn't ship DxS I would actually support pairing Sam off with an OC(a well made one not a super!goth stereotype) or another character if it will prevent them from killing her off or making her go evil (or some other Die For Our Ship cliche).
I mean for someone who really likes DxS it could be a little annoying or something, but really compared to bashing or killing off it's the lesser of two evils. Though I would expect the OC to have some effort put into them and not be a cliche.
Your art is really good though, and I like the 'goth =/= emo' point.

I can't stand it when people act like all goths are emo (or vise versa). (Actually I don't like anyone who generalizes anything without proper evidence.) As for pairings, I just love canon--since I love a good story, I should trust the writers to know what they're doing. I must warn you, though--"well-made" OCs with effort put into them are an endangered species!

They can be pretty rare. but hopefully as we spread the word about good characterization and such they will start to be seen more.
Also I worry that it's possibly that some people might not bother to put effort into OCs because they feel that the OC will be called a Sue/Stu anyway by people who don't like canonxOC.

Well, I'm not a fan of canon/OC because it's not canon. There's canon pairings, and OCs, no matter how well they're written, are not canon. But you can add an OC to the story without pairing them with a canon character, and it'd be nice to see a well-written OC who WASN'T added to the story for ten-penny romantic harem antics for once.

I know it's not canon. I respect the canon and all but I just like to play with the idea of other possibilities. (if well written and making sense of course. There's still some pairings and such that I'm not a fan of or just don't care either way about.
I don't really think there's anything that much wrong with non canon pairings as long as one accepts that they are non-canon. There's a difference between "I know that pairing is canon but I prefer exploring another one" and "MY PAIRING IS BETTER THAN CANON-CANON SUX !!!1!!!!11111!"
Also if you don't mind me asking, what of fics about unpaired characters (Jazz) or a story following the growth of a young character (ie: Dani) into a teenager and adult. What if someone say came up with a crush or love interest for them during the course of the story?

That's fair game. I actually did that myself once for Jazz, but it wasn't the whole story, just a subplot. I actually think Jazz is the most interesting character to do that with, especially if you're working in early S1 canon.

Personally I don't have an OTP, I ship some Danny/Sam here (I used the ship in an AU fic because it was the most useful and worked for the story) , Danny/Val there, and sometimes some Danny/OC. (not all at once mind you
