If the previous one was a Game Over screen, this is more of a scenario that would lead to a Game Over.
Alright, it also needs some explanation.

Around 2 years ago I started a collection of one-shots on Fanfiction.net. I submitted the one-shot here too, but let's just say I didn't know any Tales of club and people are more interested in pictures than a written one-shot on dA and the preview doesn't help. I also had a weird dream and had to write at least the beginning down (because then it went into Space Whale territory and that was plain bizarre). I planned other two one-shot related to it, but the third one has yet to be written >< though the fragment itself can be considered completed despite having no real ending.

The one-shot in question was aptly named Game Over . The story in a nutshell? Kvar had various projects, one of them was a way to preserve his identity, memory and personality so he could be "reborn" later (we all know how much pain and sacrifice Martel's short revival needed, so going to exspheres was a bad idea and an untested one). However the project was incomplete and Kvar couldn't count on his subordinates to bring him back despite the fact there were orders and plans in place for it and his death at the hands of Kratos should have been definitive.

Except someone wanted to bring him back and someone else then hijacked the program.

Re-reading this nowadays I really notice how much characterization marched on. The Kvar I'd write now wouldn't mind inferior beings in his service as long as they're useful (hell, one of his Generals is a pure human who ingested no Aionis) and the second one-shot was based on a harebrained feeling that I would see more in-character in Lloyd. To be fair though, possessing Kvar's memory and personality doesn't really make him Kvar from the get go, if I remember well there's a passage in which he mourns he has to re-train himself in his fighting style because Lloyd had a completely different muscle memory that still affects him. Well, now this is convoluted, I guess it's because it's so old and outdated in some aspects. Yeah, I doubt that third part is coming anytime soon.

Morale is - being pro-active is good, being too pro-active is not. And never split the party. Seriously, how could they just leave Colette or Colette and Lloyd alone during the Journey -at night too? Has no one ever heard of ambushes?
