I am a fan of black and white illustration, and art pieces like this are the reason why. I think this piece is enchanting, but you know there are some things you have to work on.
I don't see any problem with the anatomy of your figure drawing. I don't think her head is sized wrong. I do think that the position of her arm makes that hand float a little. The way your character is leaned forward, her arm would need to go straight down, for her hand to meet the surface at the same level that her butt does. The way she is drawn, to me she appears to be holding that hand up and out.
I think your character's style of face, expression, hair and pose, are what make the piece. If your character wasn't so endearing, the piece would fall flat.
You heard concerns about your water. I echo those concerns. My suggestion is that you spend about forty hours looking at examples of how other black line artists have illustrated water. It shouldn't be quite so hard for you next time.
I am curious if you intended for this piece to have an icy feel, because it does. It feels rocky and wet, and icy. If she is in a cold place, this illustration works well, but if that's supposed to be a warm environment, then your water is too hard edged. I know she is in an underground cavern with plants. Is it above or below freezing? To me, your entire illustration says it's freaking cold.
All in all it's a nice picture. However, you have a lot of homework to do.
Get out there and take a nice long tour of the artists who have already put the polish on their own versions of your chosen craft.
You're really quite good, but we can see that you are pushing your limits.
Thank you

Hello~ thank you so much for the critiques and compliments, dear! I really appreciate it ^^
So glad that you enjoyed my work~
I don't think it should be warm in there, underground cave seems like cooler than on the upper ground. I was meant to make the rock more... spiky? Similar to stalactites&stalagmite on normal cave ^^
Thanks again! I'll try to improve ^^

A very detailed picture. I enjoy the adventure-like mood that derives from the sky as well as her wings. The splashing effect is a bit plain and too spike-y,however that is understandable considering that creating realistic splash-effects with pens and pencils is a hard thing to do, and you can't use ctrl-z to erase any big mistakes- so in a way, it's good you didn't risk the quality on a minute detail.
As I've said before, I love the mood the picture gives off, much love to detail has been put into this, the water was visibly worked with, I was left staring at it because of the complexity.
Very good work, I can feel the effort that was put into this!

Good evening! Now, I don't write a lot of critiques so I apologize for saying anything hurtful, I honestly don't mean it, I promise! 😅😊
So first of, I have to say, I love the detail in this, it is simply gorgeous, especially for it simply being in only black and white, well done!! Your Character is also ver pretty as well, love her wings!!
The only thing that may or may not need improving is you character's head, it seems a little large for her shoulders...though, that may simply be only me that sees this and you have nothing to worry about!
Anyways, like I said before, this came out really pretty! Great job! I hope to see more of your works in the future!! 😃

Hi from ProjectComment ! My tag word was "summer," and I think there's probably another artwork that suits the tag word more, but I wanted to pick a piece that was both recent and didn't already receive a lot of constructive comments. Hope you don't mind!
Vision
All of your artworks are beautiful, but this one especially drew me in because of the elaborate background. This piece looks like a storybook illustration; I really like how you added in lots of detail for each aspect of the background without making the overall artwork look too busy. The way you inked the water, rocks, and trees make each of them stand out and easily recognizable despite the complexity of the drawing. The starry sky is also very lovely and reminds me a bit of Van Gogh's nighttime paintings.
Originality
It's really awesome that you're trying unique backgrounds and poses for each artwork. Despite this not being your first piece with an underground setting, it stands out distinctly from your Cave Battle piece due to considerable differences in the background, poses, composition, and tone. It's also clear that your skills in all of the aforementioned aspects have improved considerably.
Technique
I have a couple of suggestions for this piece. First, Kalan's right eye seems too large and also too close to her left eye given the way that her face is angled. Her right iris also takes up too much of her eye, which makes it difficult to tell that she is glancing downwards; adding some white space between her iris and the corner of her eye (on the side that's closer to her nose) may help mediate this. I would also suggest shortening the right eye horizontally to further emphasize that it is farther from the viewer, similar to the angled views for the character in the upper left quadrant (the one above the artist's signature) in this reference sheet .
Second, compared to the other characters in your recent drawings, Kalan's hair looks less voluminous. It may be because there are fewer lines at the top of her hair, where the roots of many of her hairs are, as well as at the ends of some of her curls, making the hair look sparser in these areas. I'd suggest adding more lines to these areas to emphasize the density of her hair.
Lastly, I would suggest rounding out the tips of Kalan's fingers more, especially for the thumb, since making the fingers pointed can cause them to look too short. For the feet, I would recommend showing the different joints in each toe more clearly, and either separating them out more or flexing some of the toes (like here ) to further emphasize that Kalan is having fun playing with the water.
Impact
You did an excellent job, and I can't wait to see what you will create next!
Hope this helped! Next in the tag line is sJibbi , and your tag word is "Colorful."

Hellooo~ Thank you so much for the criticism and compliments! Of course i don't mind, I really appreciate it!
Also, thanks for the references, it helps a lot! It's pretty hard drawing eyes~
Also, for other details such as fingers, i'm afraid i can't draw it because the paper size is too small. It looks twice bigger on the web, so you can see the details ~
But let me try it on bigger drawing next time ^^

No problem, glad I could help !
Agreed, eyes are quite difficult to draw~
I see, yeah it's really hard to go into that much detail if the paper is small; sounds good ^^!

Very nice, and I really like the amount of detail you've put into this piece. Especially impressive that you've achieved this level of detail on A5 paper. The scenery looks so tranquil and the character definitely looks like she feels at home here. Great work, keep it up!

Hello this is from ProjectComment
This is a really impressive piece. It looks like you put a lot of focus and hard work into it. I simply adore the line work done, and you did a great job with the pen. Nothing in this piece feels stiff or forced. It feels very flowing and moving. You have such great direction in this piece. I actually think the perspective used is done very well. Great job here, Keep up the great work!

Hey there I am with ProjectComment
I am a big fan of ink on paper (love the contrast of deep black to white) and as such I can say that your drawing is pretty awesome. Your hatching is clear and I like the vertical lines you use with the hatching to give the image a direction. What also works pretty fine with the hatching are the rocks, they are super sharp and dynamic. The character itself is posed in the foreground and very easily identifyable as main attention point because of the black dress. Also I really like how you let this white outline everywhere to give good contrast to the back. Very good job overall.
Now things I would criticize: The river´s perspective is a bit strange. it somehow becomes much more flat at the feet of the character and disappears very fast in the background. I think the wavelines could be made more dark in the front and disappear completly like at half of the visible river to augment the depth. Now the water in the foreground: your splashing water is not really realistic but I dont think thats a problem, it merges well with the overall art style with the rocks for example so thats pretty nice. what I dont really lke are the circular waves, i think you made too much lines here, less would be more here. Lastly as my forecommenter said the wings of the character somehow merge too much with the background , by lightening up the back and losing some details here and there the wings could stand out way more I think. Ok, so I hope my comment is somehow helpful and keep on doing cool stuff! Cheers
