No boobs, sorry, but I felt like posting this anyway. I tried to draw Kirika with a more varied set of expressions. Eiken is pretty awful. The art in the manga is rather sub-par, its awkward plot is nothing more than an attempt to barely skirt around full on porn, and most of the characters are shallow, 1 dimensional stereotypes.ΒIts something of a guilty pleasure. I really like Kirika, or at least the idea of Kirika. She's manipulative, but has an emotional side and a fondness of cats. She's also an incredibly busty and curvy amazon who gives no fucks. Plus, that ponytail. I just kind of want to rescue her character from the depths of Zashono Academy and uplift her to a better series.Β

Rather splendid, actually - you're really good at conveying emotion, and I love your take on one of my favourite anime/manga characters. I agree with all you've said in your description. Well done

I know that feeling you got around her; Eiken itself is very much 'eh' at best, with pretty much the only thing good about it being some of the characters.
Kirika being uplifted from Eiken into a series or setting where she can shine better... that's a pretty fun idea. I might have to put some serious thought into that!
Also: massively busty and curvy amazons who give no fucks and have kickass ponytails. That's a hell of an awesomeness resume!
Got some nice expressions here; it's fun to see her with a wider emotional range, from full on rage to incredulity to adorable enthusiasm.
Also, a banana. The banana is clearly a mastermind behind the events of her life. Her constant consumption of them is merely placating the Spirit of Banana to twist it's demands to her own ends (and also because that's more interesting than unsubtle phallic imageries).

I'm behind you 100% on this.Β I couldn't stand most of Eiken, but I adored Kirika - both her physical design and abundant attitude.Β She really does feel like a concept that was meant for something better than the cheap demi-porn vehicle she wound up in. :/
I love what you've done with her here.Β The range of expressions is just delightful, and give her face a very flexible, animated feel.Β You've captured her personality and sass-factor beautifully.

That's kind of part of it, she doesn't have much chance to have an expressive personality in Eiken. She drastically shifts from overbearing and suggestive, to helpful and demure .... and that's kind of it. She's wasted as an excuse to push Densuke into suggestive situations and its a letdown.Β

Eiken is definitely a guilty pleasure. But when I first saw 'expressive Kirika' I just thought she only has two expressions, smirking maliciously and adorable cuteness. Though, I would say the Teacher is worthy of being 'rescued' as well, she's awesome.

Hey, my favorite Eiken character. Yeah I agree with you, she's kind of a guilty pleasure character for me too. The manga does her far more justice than the shit anime does(barring endlessly bouncing breasts).

I'd explore the complexities of the character's relationships and try and ground the huge chests in a more logical reality. IE: No Kirika forcing Densuke into illegal and life threatening situations for a joke, or fucking yogurt slides or foot sucking. There are likeable characters there, and some fun designs, but everything else is just .... disappointing. This is coming from someone who owns 8 volumes of the manga and the DVD.Β
However, all I really want is Kirika, tone down her phallic teasing and give her a broader emotional range that isn't reliant on having a cold and she could be a really great character.Β
