Description Anonymous commission of a Skywalker in a racy get up.

I honestly used to really love Star Wars, but it was about the time I saw Yoda grapes and BB-8 oranges that I became frustrated with the nonstop marketing behemoth Disney was set on it becoming. You can't miss something if it never goes away, it just becomes routine. Also, I don't want to hear anyone's Last Jedi hot takes, because I can assure you I haven't watched it and I do not care. Instead, maybe talk about how boss R2-D2 is in this Clone Wars series.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwX0yO…

As someone who loved Star Wars toys and cartoons, I wholeheartedly agree.

Back in the day (this meaning the mid-late 2000s for me) the biggest argument you could get into over Star Wars was something like 'Yoda could totally beat Darth Vader' and the massive marketing didn't seem as egregious because it only really happened around the release of a new movie or TV series, which usually happened years apart. Now that Disney's made Star Wars an annualized thing (not to mention handed the movies out to various completely different directors, tonal & style consistency be damned) the rampant marketing is way more consuming than it ever felt because it's just so constant. Not to mention it's nearly impossible to even mention the name Star Wars without sparking debates and arguments.

Star Wars has essentially become emblematic of everything I hate about modern Hollywood and modern pop culture.

I have a lot of respect for the people who work very hard to make cool stuff in movies like Star Wars. I just can't get over the faceless corporation that it represents and the driving forces of capitalism telling us all to consume and not question anything. It sucks.

Oh of course! The people who actually make the media are usually very talented and don't deserve any disrespect. It's just a shame that their hard work is ultimately for the benefit of shameless corporate robots. I see the exact same problem in everything nowadays. Video games, comics, movies/TV, & even music a lot of the time all suffer the same problem. Legitimate talent being used and abused by clueless businessmen who think they're entitled to the success and money of others.

It's just like Red Letter Media says: "Don't think about product. Consume product and get excited for next product."

"Aren't you a little... everything for a princess?"

I sometimes forget to comment a lot of the work I favorite, but I gotta say that you got a really sharp and appealing style that I really dig.

For someone who craves comments on my own work, I'm guilty of the same thing. Drive by faving without telling people what I like. It means a lot!

You forget that The Phantom Menace already did that a long time ago when George Lucas wanted to sell Toys back in the day.

Oh, I know its always had entirely too much merchandising, but its the unavoidable nature of it nowadays. There were at least a couple years, if not decades between releases. I also don't remember Ewan McGregor's face on bags of Dole lettuce. We're gonna have the 5th movie in as many years come winter and you can't go anywhere without someone wanting to tell you their thoughts on Last Jedi.

I remember this though

And nothing is going to top this marketing wise though.

God, I had forgotten the french kiss Jar Jar. There's a lot of terrifying and misguided Jar Jar merch out there.
