Description They fall!
All of them

They cry!
All of them

They hurt!
All of them

They hate!
All of them

And yet
We are connected

------
Edit: I am aware of the hip issue going on here. ^^ Though, it actually is a choice I made.
I know they are on the freakier side of slim, but since the pic is made for my own amusement, I wanted it this way.

But if you think it's disturbing to the eye, please let me know, and I might change it back to a more natural size!
I don't want my little man-butt here to be unattractive.
/edit

This is a B/W picture to be coloured. But I don't have the time right now, so I'm sharing it as it is. Some lack of detail, so conceder it kind of a WIP. ^^

And to , here's some smoooooth man-butt for yah!

Thank you!

Actually, it's one of my paintings I like. But mostly for the message I was trying to convey. ^^

I love this @.@ Do tell when it's finished *O*
Found this on the gender survey and couldn't wait for the answers to be released so I could see this

It's getting more and more unlikely that it'll ever bee finished. But I've updated with a slightly newer version just now. Very, very subtle changes though. ^^

And I'm really happy you got curious and stopped by, and even more thrilled you actually liked it!!

I know the feeling though. I wish I could get things close to finish at least XD

This picture is really great: although all is gray, there are some subtle contrasts in depth and in continuity (vertical body versus diagonal horizon).

And it's moving overall, even though it seems passively indifferent: it just feels so cold.

Thank you for your lovely comment!
Your words brought a smile to my face, cause I was really hoping for it to look both cold and indifferent.

And you have a keen eye, noticing the contrasts and all... ^^

This is just plain cool. I really don't see much of anything wrong with it. Yes there are things out of proportion, but it looks like they are that way intentionally so I am not going to critique that. The only flaw is the second thread down looks a bit wobbly. Like the composition too. Have you considered making little trickles of blood from the fingers? It looks like they are really digging into the skin, it would be cool if it looked like they had broken the skin a bit.

*and half a year later:*

Thank you!

Yes I actually considered some blood from the fingers. (I do like adding blood to my paintings. ) But is got to detail heavy and cluttered, so I removed it. But still, thank you for the suggestion!

I think it is a wonderful picture. Love the use of the grey colours. I don't see the anatomic problem but that is probably just me and not something else. I don't know if I would have coloured it. I love it as it is.

We'll see if I ever get around colouring it. ^^ Tooooo lazy for my own good when things are difficult!
But I want to! Cause I think it would look cool.

wow, man-butt!! *slaps it silly* 8) hahaa...with this lousy company's comp it's kinda dark, so i'll go home and see it too! xD... omg, do you usually do your work in grayscale first..? 8DD does it help with the colour values thing..? i heard alot of artists do that too~

hehee...the eye looks fine from this monitor Those suspender links always fascinated me~ 8D looks painful yet those people enjoy it >.< wahaha!

... ... ...

No, can't say that I do actually. This is my first digital pic ever in grayscale. ^^ But I heard that too, so that's why I'm trying it out.
And it does indeed help with being aware of values. But I miss my colours!

Oh yeah... Never got that. ^^ Cause I'm terribly frightened by needles. Maybe that's why it's so fascinating.

Wow...grayscale works look really good and have a different sort of mood~ esp if the values are varied.. sometimes i change my coloured works to grayscale just to see if the values work..*enough brightness, darkness* >.< ohh hoho~

lol! hm...im ok with needles xD i even kinda look forward to them sometimes cos they usually mean..i'm gonna be getting better soon 8D

Except... It becomes so evident when we fail.

Needles to get better you say.. I dunno...

OMG MANBUTT.

Also, jag tycker attdet är hur coolt som helst att händerna är mer detaljerat skuggade, ser ut som om de är lite mer noggrant gjorda än ryggen, eftersom de då står ut mer och ser ännu mer creepy ut

Firstborn In reply to Verdokai [2007-10-08 23:51:20 +0000 UTC]

YESSSH! Man-butt!
We like man-butt...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Verdokai In reply to Firstborn [2007-10-09 07:37:32 +0000 UTC]

He, he.. Jo, jag ville väl få fram den psykiska smärtan genom att använda den fysiska på nåt vis. ^^

Glad att du gillade den! För det var helt nytt för mig att jobba i gråskala.

The anatomy is a little off, but I think it actually adds a really awesome affect to the piece; it makes it feel more human, which is what the message of the work is in the first place. I love the concept, the lack of color, and the foggy distance is very well done! Bravo. I wish I could do backgrounds like you!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Firstborn In reply to Kalidassa [2007-10-08 23:44:31 +0000 UTC]

With anatomy, are you thinking about the hips, or something else? I would be very happy if you specified it a bit.
And thank you dearly for liking it anyway!

Foggy distance was a blast! I think I've learned to like painting backgrounds...

I have to say I had no clue how a male back really looks. ^^ And the references I found didn't help all that much.

And thank you so muck for all the undeserved praise, sweetie!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kalidassa In reply to Firstborn [2007-10-09 02:42:38 +0000 UTC]

Haha! It is absolutely deserved! Don't second guess your talent!

I think the shoulders are a bit unaligned, and the back should probably curve a bit with his pose. And while I'm not the queen of male anatomy either, I think his hips should be about the same width as his shoulders - at least, that's what all my anatomy-made-easy books tell me. I don't have very much boy-butt experience under my belt, but nonetheless, well-done on that!

You said this was a WIP, right? Are you planning on adjusting his appearance a little bit? I'd actually suggest getting a buddy to pose for you - maybe not naked, of course - but so you might get a better feel for it. In any case, I love the piece anyway! His face and hair is GORGEOUS.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Firstborn In reply to Kalidassa [2007-10-09 14:56:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah! Curvation! That's what I was missing! Thank you!

I might adjust the appearance a bit, yes.
But I think that hips and shoulders are supposed to be the same on females, the shoulders can be broader on men, hence the "V"-shape expression. ^^

With that said, the hips are freakishly slim here. And many have commented it, so I'll change it, and keep this version to my self untouched though. Cause I like it this way! ^^

And If I am to get a model, he better be nekkid!!

Aldriona [2007-10-08 14:48:34 +0000 UTC]

Really nice. If I was to colour it, I think I would use just a little bit of colour here and there, it looks good in black and white. One complaint about though, have you taken a closer look on him and compared the width of his shoulder and the width of his hips? sure, males tend to have broader shoulders than hips, but his are almost twice as wide as his hips. ^_^

Firstborn In reply to Aldriona [2007-10-08 23:35:22 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
Painting in grey scale really put my contrasting skills to the test. ^^ And they, weren't that amazing to begin with.

I will probably go with icy blue, and add in some earthy and green tones. That will probably give it that cold and dirty dusty feel I'm looking for.

Yeeesh! The hips. ^^
I made them freakishly slim because I like this exaggerated bodyshape.
I have seen a few men built like this, but if it is an eyesore to many, I may change it back into a more traditional size.
I don't want that issue to be a disturbance in the picture.
