Description So, I basically had somewhat of a meltdown earlier this week and this is really the first art that I've done since.

It's my hope to start being able to ramp back up on art here and everything so if you're waiting to hear from me please bear with me.

A couple notes about this piece.  It took 1,005 minutes (16 hours 45 minutes).  I started with a different pose but didn't like it and ended up borrowing the pose and idea from an old Marvel Card: spf.fotolog.com/photo/31/60/10…

You can see the similarities but I will say I didn't trace anything.  I really wanted a pose that would show off how 'leggy' the Alliance Infiltration Unit is.

The perspective elements for the background I did in Manga Studio (which has a great tool for that).

I should start to be getting more vocal here again as I'm getting better from the stuff that happened last weekend.

Enjoy.

That is by far my favorite look for EDI in the field.

Love this one!  I especially like the contrast between the bright green/blue against the red backdrop!

This is a very dynamic piece and your palette is very well chosen. The perspective is also a lot better than anything I can currently do.

I tried playing one of these in the multiplayer but couldn't get the hang of it. I was much more at home lumbering around as a Geth Juggernaut stealing people's souls.

And on the issue of whether the units make sense, they make about as much sense as the N7 ninja that teleports or the fact that you have a gun that shoots lightning that melts people into glowing white goo.

If you're looking for help drawing perspective, I STRONGLY recommend checking out Manga Studio.

I got Manga Studio 4 for about $15, and the built in tools it has for drawing perspective are AWESOME.  Like... I used to hate doing perspective pieces but with that tool it's a LOT easier.  FUN even!  Strongly recommend you try it if you're looking for help with that.

I tried the Geth Juggernaut but just didn't really get into it.  She's pretty versatile.  Good at close quarters due to her cloaking using shotguns?  Good at getting in and out of tight spots with cloaking plus her Self-Repair system.  I still don't think she's at good at killing things as my human engineer, who I feel has something for just about EVERY situation.

I'll check out the software, especially if it's that cheap. Thanks for the tip. I'll fully admit that a lot of the times my backgrounds are nonexistent because of this. I've been forcing myself to draw them and getting better about it, though.

I think it's also just personal playing style. I've never been very good with sneaky characters like that, in any game. I'm much more at home with something tanky. I did love the engineer though, the N7 engineer was hilarious with his shield slap. I loved getting an enemy that was floating around and just Team Rocketing him.

Was there an actual reason lore-wise why the Alliance used EDI/EVA's body to create the "Infiltration Unit" (Seriously, I was a big ME fan, and even I found this lacking in taste, among other things in ME3...)? Also, does this mean these units are self-aware as EDI is, or are they VIs with combat upgrades?

That's a really good question.  I have no idea.

I surmise that they just off-the-cuff 'created' it for the ability to play an 'EDI' like character in the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer

But it would be kind of cool to have these unique AIs running around.  Kind of like the Geth but with more individual flare.  Would be great for a Mass Effect D20 game where you wanted to play an AI that wasn't a Geth.  (I actually have rules for a Mass Effect D20 - not the official ones that are awful)

What specifically did you find lacking in taste in ME3??

What I found lacking in taste was the fact that they used the model for E.D.I. at all. I mean, how do you explain all of the A.I.s running around on
the battle field? You could play almost any race within the roster and all of them would make sense of why they are there at all. The Alliance Infiltration
Unit doesn't make sense because you can't just mass produce something as unique and complicated as an android's body in a short amount of time.
I would have been happier if they made either the Elcor or the Hanar a playable race instead: they made the flipping Geth Juggernaut playable, for
goodness sake! Also, there is a pen-and-paper style of Mass Effect?

Yes.  There was this one that they released in an actual hardcover: www.dadodemente.tk/images/Imag…

It's awful.  I don't link any of the sources to it because you'll regret it.  The game makes you keep track of the cooldown of your abilities.  And it has very little skills or rules that pertain to anything outside of combat, which is a real shame given that a lot of what Mass Effect is about is making choices and interacting with and changing people and the world (not just via combat).

When I ran Mass Effect D20, I used a homebrew that incorporated elements of Star Wars D20 and Pathfinder.  Send me a note if you want the .PDF I put together as this thing isn't letting me post the link because it thinks it's spam.

We played that in a campaign called "Mass Effect: Uncharted" where the PCs work for a Turian Specter, Septima.  An active Mass Relay is discovered in a dust cloud near the Omega Nebula and the PCs volunteer for the potentially suicidal jump through the 'Uncharted' relay.  They discover Prothean ruins, alien worlds, fight pirates and negotiate with business people, set up mining colonies and the like.

Was pretty fun while it lasted.

Yes please more Mass Effect please. Geth/Quarian maybe? You're great at drawing robots.

Hope everything works out with your personal life n'all.

Thanks.

I'm not quite sure who I'll do next, but I'm definitely thinking of doing another from Mass Effect.
