I wanted to try a bit more of a dynamic layout, but I'm not sure how successful this was.

I think if I'd pre-planned more of the magic effects it could've looked a lot better. Same goes for the lighting. I mean, I like how the lighting turned out, but it's just not as good as it could've been.

The girl herself is just a generic fantasy-elf chick. I elongated her face to help show that. Not sure it worked out. Oh well.

This was drawn on 9"x12" Strathmore Bristol Smooth. It was pre-sketched with a non-photo blue colored pencil, then penciled with a bic 0.5mm mechanical pencil. It was then scanned, turned black and white (using Threshold 140) and colored. The priciple characters (tentacles and the girl) were colored with layers of transparent gradients, while the background was painted with an airbrush tool.
