You should start adding ugly watermarks to things that you made for other people. While it doesnt look the prettiest in your gallery, it probably would cut down on the theft of icons not made for certain people.

I guess one could go to that persons DA page, but we all know morons aren't that innovative.

Even then, people could always just right-click on the avatar in use (by the person it was meant for,) and download it that way. >.> ("Save As" option.)

of course, but a lot of people don't go to the lengths of following the path to where it actually is.

thousands of people follow her and she gets thousands of views a day. Just to slightly cut down on some of the theft, she can upload something watermarked to her gallery.

It might cut down some, but art thievery is forever a reality~ Sad yet true~ How petty. . .

something ugly could help people not steal them D:

I always thought you could use transparencies with gifs. unless you use a program other than photoshop.

haha i use photoshop, but i meant that it would become solid over any areas that were already transparent around the avatar in the canvas size. One might not even be able to tell what they're looking at b/c i'd be filling open space with more solid colour. At that point I don't know that there would be any reason to upload them at all haha

gifs can't handle transparencies like a png can. (example : a png could save a drop shadow in the image and retain the transparency of it while a gif would just make the shadow solid)

tbh It's not as much of an annoyance for me as it is for those that commission me x_x. I kind of ask people not to take the avatars out of courtesy for my commissioners as they don't want other people using their characters etc. there have been lots of times where i've seen people on DA using one of my OOOLD avatars that i'd asked people not to take and I just let it slide..I don't have the time to go after everyone that's taken one of my images x_x.

I'd rather someone be able to enjoy my work than plaster it with something to prevent people from taking it that also prevents them from enjoying it

Well, I mean the ones you upload to your gallery, maybe add some kind of marking or a non animated version, or something to prevent the ease of access of people taking it. Instead of linking to the person you commissioned, just send it to them in a note, something like that.

You do get lots of pageviews a day, and I'm sure most of those people just see what they want and take it. I doubt most of them would go through the pains of trying to find out who you commissioned in order to take the non-marked version, know what i mean?

It may not be the prettiest way of getting things done but I think people would be less likely to take the "nice" versions of the avatars you make.

It's sad that people don't respect commissions and dont respect pixel art. It's one of the reasons why I stopped making them myself. You're truly a hero for keeping it up so long
