I always do UVs manually, that's the best way to control it.

My Shammy has the 2nd from bottom shield, absolutely love how it's equipped like a fist weapon doubling up as a shield.
Makes it even better knowing you were behind this design

I love the weaponry in MoP and these shields are great!
I really low how a modeller can with very few polygons, but very good textures make impressive models.
Great work! Hope to see more of your work in future wow installments!

Это эпик, если мне память не изменяет, остальные попроще грейдом.

besides that theese are obviously epic.. i love the most in theese, that you developed your skills even further than few years ago. whitch is a strange thing coz you were doing exceptionally great hand painted textures already years ago. and it makes you think, how far can someone advance? i mean really, is there better than this level?? i'm afraid few years later i'll have to tell the same, but right now i don't see how is that possible..
great job!!

is there an official style guide generated before (or during) production for wow?

FirstKeeper In reply to ConceptGuy [2012-10-16 16:03:32 +0000 UTC]
Mmmm I don't think so. I learnt style by observing artworks done by Blizzard artists and in game assets in wow model viewer.

Seems like a high polycount for WoW Oo
How much is it for a whole armour? (the highest ones)

FirstKeeper In reply to Umerean [2012-10-16 15:51:09 +0000 UTC]
Well, it's 2012 and it would be weird for wow to still stick with old polycount without any normal maps and same texture size.
I think you may get full picture about armors from wow viewer actually.

FirstKeeper In reply to b-cesar [2012-10-17 01:06:37 +0000 UTC]
I would start with some basics like still life and anatomy studying (skull, body parts etc), it's the way for better understanding of volumes, materials, textures and humans anatomy. I know it sounds boring, but art is not easiest thing to learn and it takes time + persistence.

I posted all tutorials I know about hand-painting in my last journal entry. Tyson's tutorial pretty much shows my current workflow.

I like how the first and the second one would make great masks. Especially the second one; reminds me a lot of Majora's mask. Great job with the shields.
