Again, I'm having fun here with a character from the Naruto series - the perverted hermit Jiraiya, also known as the Toad Sage, and the author of Kakashi's favorite novels!This is one of the many, many reasons the Naruto series is so appealing to me.... sure, it's a tale about ninjas and everything, so yes, a lot of action's to be expected, as well as serious guys, but that's definitely not what some of these characters are all about!
I mean, take Jiraiya for one. He could care less about training rigorously every day and participating in battles to the death, right? He'd rather write a good romance novel!

hey! i appreciate your advice..you mind if i give u a few pointers as well?
you definitely have a good style..easy on the eyes and you easily see whatsup...
you also draw hands a helluva lot better than me, so keep that up!
you need to use some angles though...yknow, ur stuff are always "straight on" with very little change in angle (like your ichigo one).. angles, arouse whoever's looking at ur stuff's imagination, putting them in impossible positions..and thats a good thing
im guilty with using too much angles...and some of the naruto manga covers (and bleach covers)
tend to over do angles, like they were taken from security cameras...so yeah..
angles are good
too much of it though, bad..
--an exaggerated view from above a character, will make him look like a chibi if ur careless... hahaha
also work on your lighting...
ur details are excellent so dont forget ur excellent details when lighting a scene!

Thanks for the advice! You're definitely right that I do tend to neglect the lighting details (guilty as charged!), I just shade wherever I "feel like it" without thinking so much about the consequences. You got a good eye. Maybe that's why colorists don't really want to tackle my artwork. I'll work on that!
But I save my angles for sequential art usually - when I do these character portraits, I tend to not worry so much about angles
