Description
I am actually not very proud of this; that's why I didn't post it as soon as it was done. But I guess I won't have the time to make another picture out of them (Fingolfin is really a demanding model, in terms of drawing...), so, I guess thos will do for the time being....And please please please ignore or try to ignore the two terribly erroneous, misleading maps on the background, and never trust any maps I draw, unless you wanna get more lost than Thorin did in Hobbiton *snicker* (The Valinor map is actually a rough combination of a map from wikipedia and the one from lotrwiki, and as for the West Beleriand map, trust you all know where to find it~)
Ballpoint pen and pencil
Characters belong to Prof. Tolkien.

Wow you just drew the map so perfectly, also with these two brothers headed to two different way, great design!

Thank you! Though I have to say, these are two maps of different scales and ratios. (That's the misleading part LOL)
And yes, they made different choices.

I like how the map is fainter than Finarfin and Fingolfin themselves. I like their designs, too, and their expressions match each other well, especially Fingolfin's stern face. And that's a good cloak.

The maps are drawn with pencil, where the outline of the Elves and Fingolfin's dark hair are reinforced by ballpoint pen; that makes the difference.
I picture Fingolfin as the sort of poker face guy for most of the time, severe yet majestic; but his gaze will turn even sterner when he is provoked. [And you absulotely do NOT want to provoke him...]
Well, Fingolfin simply doesn't wear every expression on his face. (And I think Fingolfin, when he smiles, is extraordinarily beautiful, but I have never managed to capture that smile...)
Finarfin is much easier to draw. The problem with him is that when I draw him alone, I always end up wondering who the guy on my paper is... He needs company, so I draw him with others, like Fingolfin, Earwen, or Finrod (and maybe Galadriel or Celebrian, I will try next time)
And I like Fingolfin's cloak, too

Ahhhh... I should have noticed that.
Oh no, you certainly don't! Fingolfin is very majestic, but the fangirls will tell you not to the point of Thorin's majesty.
Hmmm... and I just realized that I cannot recall ever seeing a single picture of Fingolfin smiling. Time to remedy that.
Definitely! I don't have that problem, as a matter of fact, I've never drawn him with someone else, in my multiple sketches of him.

You know what, your comment reminds me of the #Magestic Thorin Oakenshield from the Oakentoons...And as a result, replying this has to take much more time than usual
And I know, "poker face" is an exageration. I just tend to think that Fingolfin blends his personality perfectly into his duties as King, and that he does a perfect job in refraining from wearing personal emotions, esp. negative ones, on his face, as is expected of a monarch. But in the first place, he is an Elf, not a statue. His facial muscles certainly move, and move royally. And nor do I picture him smile very often. He just lands in one trying position after another for most of the time...
Well, at first I also found it difficult to draw Finarfin, even in the company of other characters, given his very limited presence in the book. But once I worked out a face of him, he turned out a much easier model for portraits than his two brothers Haha, personality matters

Oh yes, those are so hilarious... "One does not simply question my majesty."
Fingolfin has much better control over his emotions than, say, Feanor... And sadly, he does. Taking over Tirion and then the Oath and then Alqualonde and then Losgar and then the Helcaraxe... it goes on and on.
Finarfin is so much more gentle and nicer... no wonder he's easier to draw!

I think there's no doubt that which of the brothers has more dominant vanyarin blood. But both are great all the same.
