Gwen can't really explain this one. Bit popped up in the ruins - or rather his little personality cube did - as some sort of curio. The explorer who found him couldn't figure out how to activate the artifact, but it quickly reacted to Gwen's voice when she called to it. Far as anyone's aware, it's magic.
