Description Randy Riverson, alias "Kronos," is an electrical engineer, armorsmith, and weapons designer who grew up right in the heart of Seattle. He learned basic handyman skills from his father at a young age, and always got on better with machines than with people. He never liked very many people, but those he did like, he was extremely loyal to. After getting his master's degree in engineering, he began working as an intern in a low-level Ares Macrotechnology facility after receiving a recommendation from Duncan Hathaway, the elder brother of Randy's childhood friend James. He spent some time on the front lines, paying his dues and making himself useful where he could, and eventually his talents were noticed by the higher-ups. He climbed the ranks until he was overseeing his own small sector of Ares' R&D department, specializing in the development of laser weaponry. He was an instrumental part of the design process of the Ares MP Laser 3, one of the few practical options for man-portable laser warfare.

The biggest problem with laser weaponry had always been the ongoing need for copious amounts of electricity to power the weapons. As a potential solution to this problem, Randy turned his attention towards the development of the world's first military-grade armor suit that was specifically designed to work in conjunction with laser weaponry. He called it the Hyper-Amp Discharge Enhancer Suit, or, Project HADES.

The Hyper-Amp Discharge Enhancer Suit, or "HADES," is a state-of-the-art medium-grade military armor suit designed for enhanced electrical utility and fitted specifically for use with man-portable laser weaponry. It can draw auxiliary power wirelessly from the grid over time, slowly recharging its backpack power supply and converting that power into laser charges. It can also be directed to devote all of its processing power towards doing so at a much faster rate. It resists all forms of electrical damage through use of its nonconductivity dampers, and converts a portion of all damage resisted directly into useable power. HADES is also equipped with strength-enhancing muscle cables, voice-activated quick release functionality, magnetic locking weapon retention, as well as a suite of thermal dampers. Over several years of R&D, Randy's team finally succeeded in developing a working prototype.

Upon the prototype's completion, Randy received a tip-off from his old friend Duncan, now a member of Ares' upper management. The overseers of Randy's department had decided their goose had laid its golden egg, and that they were ready to proceed without him, citing his general difficulty to work with and over-perfectionism as counterproductive to the bottom line of Project HADES. Furious at their intent to push him out, Randy stole the prototype, along with the only digital and physical copies of the blueprints, burned his personal data from the net, and went on the run. Now, Randy works as a shadowrunner to make ends meet and to stay off the grid and out of the watchful gaze of Ares.
