Typeface changes from the last time - they're all open source typefaces now! Go grab Open Sans and Clear Sans if you have the source file.

The table and its contents are licensed under CC-BY-NC-SA.
Oh yay it's downloadable now it's a 184kb pdf in a zip file (because dA is weird like that).

Modifications and improvements are always welcome, drop me a note if you want access to the source files (it's a ~1.4MB .ai file)

Changelog
1. Changed up the typefaces a little. They're no longer commercial typefaces.
2. The .ai file is a lot better organised now. Graphic styles are included. Drop me a message if you want them.

I registered just to comment on this. I'm a chemistry grad student, and this is the best damn table I've seen. Wish I had a constructive comment, but it appears you've left no loose ends to find. Very well done, sir.

Great Job fiveless,
This has to be the most fantastically formatted periodic table I have ever seen, and I have been in the academic chemical community for some time, and have seen hundreds of periodic tables.
Just a few questions, first of all...
Where did you get atomic mass information?
I usually use the 2001 IUPAC literature data, and there are slight differences.
Second, what program did you use? I am assuming Illustrator, but just wondering.
Last, can I get the PDF or the illustrator file of the finished product? I would like a vector copy for personal use. It will not be distributed. I understand if this is not possible, but I am hoping that you would oblige.

Great job with the entire project, I have been following it for a while.

Hey, thanks for the affirmation!
The atomic masses are from the 2005 IUPAC technical report, if I remember correctly.
Ah okay as to what I used to create this... this is, strangely enough, done on Fireworks so that's quite a bugbear for me right now. I've been meaning to port it over to Illustrator for better future editability but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. If you want I can send you the Fireworks PNG file? But I'll be sure to keep you updated when I someday port it over to AI.

Do you mind if I use this for a wiki? I will credit you of course.

Hey, that wouldn't be a problem. Just remember this isn't the final version, but when that's done, that version will be in the Creative Commons yeah.

Thanks! i'll be sure to check when the updated version comes out I'll change it.

Btw I really like the design, it contains more information than the regular table as well.

Thanks, if you have any feedback from anyone when they see the table do pass it along. I want to make sure everything's good on this thing (:

The resolution is plenty high, the only problem i have is that the element names are a little difficult to read, i think the best solution would be to contrast the text color with that of the box it's in. A bigger font for the element's full name would probably help too. Or was i supposed to print on larger than A4 paper? Anyway, thanks again for giving this out for free.

I like it! It (almost) makes me wish I were still in Chemistry so I had a reason to use it. I like the colors and shapes. Hard to see the details, so I don't have any advice on actual content...

I also like how much information it makes readily available. Like you really can see what it means at a glance. Awesome!

the colours system is really cool. i like how you marked the states (liquid solid etc). i like how it looks uncluttered, yet type size is legible. the only thing i would add, is a little more contrast between element letters and background, so it would be easier to find during the few seconds you have for peeking at your periodic table for cheating in a test.

fiveless In reply to dado24 [2010-01-31 02:17:54 +0000 UTC]

hey hey alright, I'll see what I can do about that. I think I'll make the backgrounds in the individual boxes a little lighter.

dado24 In reply to fiveless [2010-02-01 15:56:02 +0000 UTC]

haha i was kidding, it's a nice periodic table. people should not cheat at tests

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fiveless In reply to dado24 [2010-02-02 03:44:53 +0000 UTC]

heh, I'm in no control of what people do with it I'll probably do the contrast thing with the post transitions, the words/bg are a little too close in colour imho.

I love this! You chose a wonderful font; I love those Gs and Rs. The text of the actual element name in all lowercase makes it look very modern.

The corner changes based on state is a wonderful idea, once you get the hang of it. Right now, though, it's too small for me to read the Natural Occurrence box!
