This is really intriguing! If you hadn't said in the description that it was a plant, I think it would've taken me quite a while to figure out what I was looking at. This is a good thing! I really enjoy abstract-looking pictures that make me squint a bit and say hmmmm a lot.

The detail in the textures is beautiful. It reminds me of ultra-sounds, x-rays, shattered glass, cobwebs...nature's patterns are gorgeous.

I really like the deep shadows and sepia-ish tint. At college I had a go at doing lith prints and toning them with other chemicals to create a palette similar to this. I don't remember enough of the details to saying anything intelligent about it, just that I loved how the results looked and I've really enjoyed this picture.

I have no idea what type of flower this is either.

However I like the focus on it and the background you've used, it reminds me of a few things, lungs from the branching tips and the the earth (long and weird explaination for this one).

And I have to correct myself. ^Thiefoworld thought it looked like a brain.

Damn GM's all look alike to me ...

^RockstarVanity said it looked like a brain and now that's all I can think of when I look at it.

I've always thought of brains being more squishy.

But can't you see the stems looking like veins and such in a brain?

I can, but it also reminds me of broncus, bronciles and alveoli of the lungs.

It's dandelion
But how do you get the background black like that? (just curious) and it's very nice shot

FixMeKnow In reply to Hellobaby [2009-07-12 12:30:29 +0000 UTC]

Doesn't look like any other dandelion's I've seen. Much larger.

Well, I just turned it into black and white? I don't know what programs you might use, but the photoshop on my computer has different channels/filters when you turn things to black and white. I just picked that one.

That's as best as I can explain it. I suck big time when it comes to anything photoshop.

I guess it is some sort of dandelion. Looks kind of like this one [link] but a bit larger and on the "blown" side.

Amazing shot, I thought it was a brain

Well I mean not a brain, but it has the shape of a brain... or am I a little more crazy than I thought? o.o

Quite a bit larger than one, though. At some point I'll find someone who knows it's name!

And thanks!

I'd ignorantly assume these to be dandelions however I doubt that's the case Very pretty, how they shimmer, almost like creatures floating in some strange abyss.

it's so annoying with flowers/plants like that. there are never any websites where you can put in a description to find the name of it and such. so hard to find out what things are if all you know is what it looks like
