Description Oh my gosh I poured my heart and soul and a LOT of time into this puppy, but it's finally done and I am SO happy with it! Here is my new fursona, Fizzy's ref sheet along with a special section dedicated to Boov anatomy for anyone not in the know! I figured making this massive all-inclusive ref sheet might help any artists who may wish to draw Fizzy/I commission to make art of her and who may not be familiar with DreamWorks Animation SKG's film Home to better understand all the nuances and special characteristics of a Boov by putting all the most important aspects in one place! I also plan to do a separate sheet that will be similar but won't be specific to Fizzy (I might even use Oh for that one) that will include a few text descriptions of Boovish society/culture, habits, etc. for any other Boov out there looking to make a Boov 'sona of their own, or even just for those curious to learn more about us! I hope to have that sheet done soon, but in the meantime this one should cover all the important bases! Hope you guys find this helpful!

And yes, for anyone wondering that is Boovish writing in there -- ten points to any other Boov out there who can read it and know what it says!

Yes, Smek can be the frightening when mad. I finding it best not to be on his bad side. XP

Yes, even though he is not Leader among us anymore and is trying to change he still has the same tendencies. Being raised to be Leader dids this to him I thinks. It is hard for him to undo so many years of training.

To be honest, the Boov creatures are theost unique characters I've ever seen in animation. I can tell that the animators had lots of fun animating them with sincere expressions and extensive uses of anticipation, squashing and stretching.

The one thing that caught my eye is that the way the Boov move and bend their arms freely were heavily influenced by the work of the late renowned artist, Al Hirschfeld.

I wholeheartedly agree! I was personally VERY impressed by all the attention they gave to even small -- but very important -- details like the dilation and contraction of the pupils in their eyes, the way they adjusted to the light or to reflect how they were feeling; it was very natural and something most animation companies miss, a vital detail in emotional expression. Every detail of this film was so well executed I'm in awe.

I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with Al Hirschfeld; I will have to look him up!

Were you talking about the pupils adjusting to the light and how the pupils reflect how they're feeling? That's interesting too.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. I love all the little details like that which make the characters feel more real and breathe life into the film.

I also like to point out that Boovs have two uvulas.

Yes, I know this and it is actually noted on my ref sheet (I merely called them tonsils instead of uvulas) with the note that reads "not shown." I simply didn't draw a view where you can see the back of the throat.

I see. But I wonder why they have two uvulas.

I wish I could give a better answer, but I'm fairly certain it was a design choice to make the Boov seem more alien. I'm trying to recall if their having two uvulas was mentioned in the book(s) or not; I believe it was. If I ever get the chance to meet or speak with Adam Rex (the books' author and the original creator of the Boov) perhaps I will ask him!

Nice work! I like the Boov anatomy bit, especially how you did the hands with the two thumbs. My theory is the ears are openings either side of the head where the nostricles attach to it, underneath the curls. I think this cos of a scene at the end of the film where you see a still frame of Oh listening to the music with the earbuds.

FizzyBoov In reply to Silvolf [2015-07-25 19:05:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanking you! I'm glad you like it! And yeah, I'm familiar with that image myself! Problem is though the Blu-Ray doesn't come out here in the U.S. until this coming Tuesday (I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T WAIT!!! ) and until it does I can't take a closer peek at that photo; my Blu-Ray player has a nice zoom feature that might help clarify that image better than the crappy quality of what I can find now, but I'm not sure it will really help. We can't really see where that ear bud is going because of his angle -- and I noticed he's actually holding it there too, so it's not exactly being held in place by any ear canal or even the coils of his nostricle. Since you never see any opening apart from his nostrils even when his nostricles uncoil in the film one would be led to believe/assume that the nostril and ear canal are one and the same... Although I, too, tend to agree they'd be somewhat separate since Oh can obviously still hear Tip while his nostricles are filled with water after his little dip in the ocean (although, admittedly, Boov can hear underwater too so maybe that isn't a problem). The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to believe there's really no opening for the ear canal at all, like with frogs -- which would actually make sense considering both Adam Rex and DreamWorks looked at frogs for inspiration for some of the Boov's aspects (like the mention of tadpole tails in the young that made it into the Art of Home book but somehow didn't make it into the final models for the baby Boov in the film). Frogs hear both above and under water, like Boov, and their eardrums are either directly exposed or hidden beneath a layer of skin -- which I tend to feel is probably the case with Boov, thus why you can't actually see their ears even though they're separate from the nostricles. This is just my theory of course. The "ear" is never really explained in the movie or the Art of Home book, or even in Adam Rex's Smekday novels; we're kind of left to understand that they can hear but never told how exactly. XP There's a lot I wasn't able to fit into the space restrictions on this ref sheet (thus why I want to do a much larger and far more inclusive one) and any theorizing about the ear was one of them... That's why I kind of just left it the way I did. I might change it though... It's bugging me too LOL!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silvolf In reply to FizzyBoov [2015-07-27 19:03:34 +0000 UTC]

The only thing I can think that the ears and nasal canal are somehow seaparate is in a deleted scene where Tip grabs one of his nostricles and yells into it and he retorts "Why are you yelling into my nose???" because one of the deleted scenes was where they actually went to Florida like in the book. There are also about three alternate opening scenes as well.

Yeah, I sees that! The DVD literally JUST released in the US today so I can finally sees all the extras! So happy! Haven't been able to watch the film itself just yet but I just devoured all the extras, LOL! But yeah, even without them I still kind of figured that the ear and nasal canals were separate. At the time I made the sheet though I was honestly racing the clock to try to get it done before a convention I was going to; I was hoping to get a commission or two done of Fizzy (didn't end up happening; hubby frowned at me every time I suggested it X3 He doesn't want to spend money right now I guess...) and I just wanted it to be completed so I'd have her ref sheet. I will probably change it fairly soon and re-upload a corrected version, but it might require a complete overhaul of the layout... I was running out of space to put the text in and I couldn't make the text any smaller without making it unreadable. I'll figure it out though!

Silvolf In reply to FizzyBoov [2015-07-29 08:02:46 +0000 UTC]

Hope you enjoyed the extras! I watched them one day while my camera's battery was charging. I was doing some videos for my YouTube but then the battery started to die so I had to charge it and start again. Hope you can find time to get the sheet sorted out! You're tempting me to make a ref of my Boovsona but she doesn't actually have a name since I did her for fun lol! And I have owed art to draw for at least three people at the moment as well as a plush I'm working on (though that should be done today or mostly done!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FizzyBoov In reply to Silvolf [2015-07-29 20:10:45 +0000 UTC]

Oh I enjoyed them for sure! I've watched them all now with the exception of the "How to Draw" bit; kind of figured I could skip that one for the moment... LOL! I'll watch it later. I really enjoy drawing my Boovsona though! Still trying to (not-so-subtlely) drop hints to my hubby that he should make one so I can draw her with him but still no bites on that front, LOL! I'll keep working on him! If you ever do make a ref for your Boovsona I'd love to see it! But I understands about having other things that need to take priority; I have a few projects I really should be focusing on myself at the moment that will be taking up most of my time too. I'm looking forward to seeing your plush though! I saw a few of your plushies on IG (sorry I couldn't comment on them; was in a hurry at the time XD) and they looked AWESOME!!! I can sew but I don't trust my pattern making skills without having a 3D model to work off of... I never really learned how. Pity; there are a lot of plushies I'd like to make too LOL!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silvolf In reply to FizzyBoov [2015-07-29 21:55:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I started with the how to draw but when the guy (it was the storyboard artist who was teaching you) didn't give Oh two thumbs, I got bored and stopped watching. I've always drawn my own way and can't do things with shapes like he was saying. I hope he comes round to the idea! I did the head for my plush today. I need to make his eyes and nose in polymer clay and bake them, then put them on. All he'll need then is a collar and tag and some fabric pen on his fur to blend it (he has gray bits) and he'll be done! It's a plush of the dog I had growing up ^^ Making plushies is fun. I designed all my patterns myself, I just looked at some of my own plushies and how they were put together and worked off that.

FizzyBoov In reply to Silvolf [2015-07-30 20:23:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I was never able to start with shapes either. I can only very rarely draw that way at all; more often than not it just makes things look worse for me for some reason LOL! XP And yet that's almost always how people tell you you're supposed to draw... Ah well. I'm weird. I'm good with that. LOL! I might attempt to make a plushie at some point but I think I need to grow in confidence first. Right now I can make ears to wear on headbands etc., but not plushies. Yet. Maybe one day I'll get better. I did make an egg! Looks weird (mostly because I added a pocket that sealed up with a zipper...), but I made one... LOL! And your doggie plushie sounds cute! I love that you're basing it on an actual pet you had! I'd love to make a plushie of my kitten, Tip one day! The heart marking on her forehead is just too precious and would make for an adorable plushie!

I was always better at just drawing what I saw. Which mostly were paused scenes from cartoons on the VCR so I got good at drawing cartoon style from copying them. One of the first ones I did was Widget the World Watcher. I was mad on that purple alien and he was the beginning of my love of purple things. That's cool though, you've made some things so its a start! I'm making my dog in the hopes I can add making plushies of peoples' pets to my list of commissions. I can make their characters so why not their pets as well? There is a place online that does it but it is really really expensive and I could never afford something like that. So I make my own. I love your kitten, she is so cute!

We have something in common. I love drawing what I see in cartoons as well. I started doing that in 2009 with The. Mr. Men Show (2008) and Peep and the Big Wide World.

Yeah, I was always the same way. And OMG, you know Widget?! LOL, I think you're the first person I've run into like, ever, that even knows of that one! I don't think even any of my friends as kids knew it, LOL! XP I used to watch Widget all the time! I think about it every so often; can't remember much about it other than the purple alien (loved that guy LOL) and have been thinking about trying to find it on YouTube for some time now! I'm beginning to think you're the coolest person I know, LOL! And yeah, custom plushies can be AWFULLY pricey so if you can do it yourself all the better! Definitely a good skill to have to add to your commissions; I know a lot of people would bite those up in a heartbeat! And aaaw, thanking you! I really love my little Tippy! I need to get more photos of her -- she'll only be this small for a short time! She's already gotten longer, and her tail's starting to fluff up!

I'm so glad you know Widget too!! I have a couple of videos I bought of him but I used to have all the episodes on video but stupidly recorded over them. Jim Cummings voiced Mega Brain, Widget's sidekick. I have an original animation cel from the show that I got for about $5 on eBay years ago and a production pack about it that they sent to tv networks to promote the show. Have you heard of Rude Dog and the Dweebs? I'm a massive fan of that 80s show. I made the eyes and nose for my plush today. I textured the nose so it looks like a real dog's nose as well Yes, take as many pics as you can of her. I'm sad I only have two pics of Borris when he was a kitten. I took them with a crappy camera too, so they're not even that clear.

OMG, I TOTALLY forgot Jim Cummings did Mega Brain! I actually got to meet him at a convention last year! Wish I could say better about him though... That guy kinda screwed us ALL over. X3 First he did a lousy job of giving a voice to my hubby's blue penguin, Buzzy, on stage and totally ruined what should have been a fun performance (everyone else got fun and funny lines -- and a lot more of them -- to perform to but all he did for Buzzy was sit there and complain about not knowing what a New Zealand accent was even though we told him to go with something he knew -- like Australian -- and just have fun with it), and then he decides to go and screw over the whole CONVENTION by ditching and not showing up for any of his scheduled panels or signings even though he'd been PAID to do so and was under contract... Needless to say everyone was REALLY upset and the con chair was furious... Didn't leave any of us with a good impression of him. X3 Sad to say that's all I can think of when I hear his name now. But anyway, yeah kinda forgot he did Mega Brain, LOL! I have SO got to get my hands on that show... And you have a cel from it? So cool! I have an original cel too, but not from Widget LOL! XP Mine is of Ryo from the Yoroiden Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors; I was big into that in the 90's. Rude Dog and the Dweebs? Yeah, I've heard of that one but sadly never saw it... XD I did see Denver the Last Dinosaur though, LOL! And a couple others whose names I can't recall right now... I hate it when that happens. XP I've been taking plenty of pics of my Tip, and video too! I'd put more of them up on IG if not for the whole square format restriction... I use landscape formats for my photography and most of my art too; trying to force it into a square often doesn't work well so most of my photos can't easily be uploaded. X3

Oh man That's clouded my view of him. I follow him on Twitter and he doesn't seem to post as much. Well, not compared to Rob Paulsen for example who chats to his fans. Voice actors are usually nice, I'm friends with a few. Jim will get a bad rep and people won't want him at their cons if he messes them around. Awesome, I haven't heard of that show. When I was a kid I was all about cartoons with talking animals lol! Rude Dog was cool, I have a fan site about the show I never saw Denver sadly but I've heard of it. Yeah the square format is annoying at times. And the fact you have to record videos then and there and can't use a clip of one you have already on your phone.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FizzyBoov In reply to Silvolf [2015-08-03 14:06:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was pretty shocked at his behavior (and he apparently did other obnoxious things as well we just haven't heard about yet, like setting off the fire alarm in the hotel so everyone had to evacuate and the elevators were grounded -- mind you this hotel was PACKED and the line for the elevators was HUGE). The other voice actor they had as a guest (I'm blanking on his name XD) was nice though! I heard he really stepped up to try to fill in when Jim decided to bail on everyone. He was a good guy. And yeah, I was always into the shows with talking animals too! The Samurai Troopers admittedly didn't have a "talking" animal, but it did have a huge and very smart white tiger that tended to save everyone's butts, LOL! I loved that tiger; probably why my first fursona was a white tiger, LOL! I remember a bunch of other shows from when I was a kid though that were definitely about talking animals, like Poochie, Garfield and Heathcliff (obviously), even Dinosaucers (LOL), and a whole bunch of others! I LOVED the Thundercats. Heck, I remember watching the old Ewoks cartoon and the Gummie Bears, LOL! And yeah, not being able to use a clip from a video on your phone for IG is really frustrating, although I noticed you kind of can -- that's how I got my video of my light-up color-changing Oh on there -- but I think the original video has to be less than a certain number of seconds or something for it to work (I think I overheard my IG-obsessed friend say something like 30 seconds? This was before I got my IG so I didn't exactly ask for clarification... XP). Who records any REAL video for that short a time though? Most of my videos of Tip, for examples, are at least a minute long. Any video I want to put up on IG I'll have to specifically record just for IG, which is really rather frustrating. I actually don't like IG. Never did really. I only got it for two reasons: to follow you and to follow DreamWorks Animation since they post on there. My friends could never convince me to get it otherwise (and they tried), LOL! XP

I'm glad the other voice actor was nice! I used to watch all those show too! Haha it's awesome you remember them! My boyfriend loves Thundercats as well, I used to watch it as a kid but I haven't seen the remake series. And Ewoks! I have a DVD of that. Ah I see, you're right though, no one makes 30 second videos really. I wish you could cut a clip out of a video for IG, it would be a useful feature. I joined IG cos some of my friends were on there. I'm honoured you joined to follow me I need to follow DreamWorks too, I bet they post some interesting pics. My friends wanted me to get SnapChat but I don't see the point in it.

I love revisiting memories of those old cartoons! Heck, I remember the Popples! I used to LOVE them, even had one of those little mini-tents you put on your bed of them! I have yet to find anyone else that remembers them; I don't think even my hubby knows them LOL! Maybe you do, though! It was such a bad show but so much fun when I was a kid LOL! Yeah, it'd be really nice if IG would let you cut clips out of longer videos; I'd be able to post more that way. And of course I joined to follow you! Seems to be pretty hard to find any other good Boov artists out there, or if you do they've only done like one token piece as a tribute or something and that's it. Even on FA I'm really about the only one... There was only really one other posting (and she was obviously very young; drawings on lined paper and all...) and even she's stopped posting. So when I found out you were on IG and not just on DA and had more of your awesome Boov art on there I couldn't help myself, LOL! But I also wanted to follow DreamWorks. I've been needing to do that for ages. I turn into a whimpering puddle of goo every time they post something about their work day, like "Oh, gee, look at this -- we're drawing at the Zoo today!" or gorgeous gardens, or meeting Lassie and all the other amazing things they get to do... I've been aiming to work for DreamWorks Animation for YEARS; it's my dream, my ultimate goal. I really only lack the confidence in myself to apply at this point... I have all the education, the art training, heck I even know 3D animation (the WHOLE pipeline from modeling to rigging to animating, all of it -- I might be a bit rusty, but I've got my demo reel!!!)! I'm just... intimidated I think. My hubby says I should just apply anyway. He's probably right. I'd give anything to work for them... But for now I'll begin with following them on IG and commenting on their posts there.

I remember the Popples! Never really watched it but I had one and my friend had the lunchbox lol! I may have watched it actually but I was very, very young then. I also had a Flump as well I wish I could post more Boov art on there but of course it's all rude I could post another censored one though. I wish more people drew Boovs. I love your pics of them. But then again all the things I'm really into have a small fanbase. I'd love to work for DreamWorks or even Pixar but I live too far away and don't have the right qualifications. You should just go for it! If you don't try, you'll never find out

FizzyBoov In reply to Silvolf [2015-08-06 20:58:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I had the yellow Popple! Which one did you have? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Flumps... Maybe that one only aired in the UK? I've always wondered what British cartoons were like! And yay for censored images at least, LOL! And thank you! I really love drawing Boov. I'm used to being a part of small fanbases too; I just tend to like the less mainstream things I guess! Yeah, I guess it couldn't hurt to try! Although if I did apply and they hired me I'd probably die of a heart attack on the spot... LOL!

I also removed the reference to the ear from my ref sheet, by the way! I had to re-upload a corrected image anyway; I decided I wanted Fizzy to have a slightly darker back as opposed to her belly, kind of like sharks and Smek (I noticed he's kind of got that going on too, and even Oh to a much lesser degree; it's more noticeable on Smek). Figured it'd be a good time to correct that. I couldn't think of any brief but concise way to explain my frog-ear theory in a small amount of space so I just removed any reference to it altogether. Figured that'd be good enough for now.

I had the blue one! I dunno if Flumps was a UK show or not. Maybe. It might have been our version of Popples. Yes I am too. All my fansites were always for the lesser known shows. I only have two online now but I did have an Invader Zim one. That's gotten really popular though. Well liking the less mainstream ones just makes us that much more interesting! Haha hopefully not Trying never hurts though.

Oh yeah I noticed the slightly darker backs as well. My theory is they darken with age. Oh (if he's like J-Lo) is only 36 and I'm pretty sure Smek is older so his back would be darker. Just an idea. The ears still need more thought I think, to make sense.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FizzyBoov In reply to Silvolf [2015-08-07 13:00:03 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yes! I remember the blue one! I think that one was my second favorite! And I love Invader Zim! I still need to go through the whole series (time is not my friend LOL) but that show is hilarious! I love Grrr. Who couldn't love Grrr? LOL! And yay for more interesting! LOLOL! Story of my life, heh!

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing but at the same time was kind of hoping that wasn't the case... XD It makes sense their backs would darken with age but making Fizzy look older was definitely not the idea... I know Oh is 36 (same age as my hubby, heh! ) and I'm only 34 so Fizzy is 34... But I guess I just felt like I had to do something to set her a little apart from the others, like a marking. I don't know. She has the heterochromia going on which I guess is enough but when I was drawing my friend's Boov, Sunny, and she specified freckles I guess I got to thinking Fizzy was too plain. XD But I don't want any loud or obnoxious markings on her and I'm not going to steal Sunny's freckle idea so the only other thing I could think of was the darker back... I kind of like how it looks, but I don't want her to look old either, LOL. XP I'm not really sure what I'll do with that, if I'll change it again, drop it altogether and go back to how she was, or just leave her with a darker back and say her pigmentation just darkened faster than normal or something (not unlike people whose hair goes white early/while they're still young, like Steve Martin)... I don't know. XD And yeah, no matter what I may theorize about the ears until someone like Adam Rex or DreamWorks puts down on paper somewhere an actual explanation it will still remain just a theory. That was another reason I figured it'd be best just to remove all reference to the ears altogether; let people make their own assumptions or theories since there's no official one to put down.

Invader Zim was a part of my teenagehood My friend Kat and I often have quote wars because we've seen it so much. I have it on DVD. Gir is awesome, I have some merchandise of him

I love the heterochromia. I wanted something to set my Boov apart as well, I just gave her one of my tattoos and that seemed to work. My b/f's Boov doesn't have any defining attributes at the moment. Apart from clothes of course, but then most of the art I've done of them they have been naked and umm well you know Yeah that might be a good idea for the ears. My idea was only a theory. Maybe I could drop Adam a tweet and ask him instead!

Oh right, I misspelled Gir... LOL! XP Sadly I didn't discover Invader Zim until well past its cancellation; I think I was, what? 25 I think at the time? Gosh I feel old... LOL! XP It was actually during a pretty rough point in my life that I found it, right when I needed a laugh! It was showing in re-runs and I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about; I wasn't disappointed, LOL! I didn't get to see more than a few episodes before they stopped airing it and I was greatly disappointed. It's on Amazon Prime though, which I have, so I can finally see it all!!! Now I've just got to find the time to watch it... XP

Oh, thanking you! I thought the heterochromia would be a good way to set her apart a bit; I don't know why I got it in my head I had to give her markings as well... I just did, LOL. XP I like the tattoo on your Boov though! If I had any tattoos I might have done that with Fizzy too but I'm far too indecisive to commit to a design so I've never actually got one... Yet... LOL! XP I might get one soon though. I'm a tattoo artist actually (in addition to everything else; yep, I'm VERY highly educated in multiple skills LOL! XP) and am in the process of securing a location to open my own tattoo/art shop and I'm finding the first thing out of people's mouths when they hear I do tattoos is, "Where's your ink? I don't see any tattoos on you." XD I'm just telling people right now they're not any place they can see... LOL! But I've always wanted one anyway. If I can just commit to something. And know I won't hate it a few months to a year down the road... And apparently I have to stick to designs that don't require reds/pinks/oranges because there's a very high likelihood I'll turn out to be allergic to those colors even though they're my favorites so that upsets me... LOL, yeah. So no tattoos on me just yet. X3 And nothing wrong with naked Boov! LOL! Do you know Adam Rex, or can anyone tweet him? I don't have Twitter so I really don't know how that works, LOL! But yeah, if you do ask him and get an answer please let me know! I'd be interested to hear what he says! I'm also ITCHING to ask him if he's planning to write a third book... I want to see what happens between Oh and Tip! LOL!

I found Invader Zim when I was about 16 I guess. My friend found it airing on Nickelodeon and recorded the episodes for me since I don't have that channel. But I originally discovered it from one of my friends online. We lost touch sadly but she introduced me to it. I downloaded episodes and tried to watch them when they aired. It was such a fun show. They have it on Amazon Prime here too.

My tattoo, well the first one I got, the one that my Boov has, originally belonged to my character Riktus Rinktus. I got one done on myself back in 2010. It's the Meta Bug death symbol, the tattoo Meta Bug hitmen and assassins get. I find that it's a good idea to have the design around for a year before you get it inked, then, if you still love it just as much, get it done. Or wait more than a year. A long time anyway, just to be sure! That's cool you're a tattoo artist though, I hope you find somewhere to open up shop! I've been told I should be a tattoo artist but I don't trust myself with a needle and someone else's skin. I do tattoo designs though! A few people have commissioned them from me but sadly as yet none of them have had them inked on themselves. Which annoys me actually. That's sad you can't have your fave colours though. All my tattoos are black and white. I tweeted Adam, hopefully he will reply! I'll let you know!

Yeah, it was so much fun to watch Invader Zim after a long and trying day! It was the perfect pick-me-up!

That's really cool! I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Meta Bugs though, although it sounds familiar... I'm probably going to face-palm when I remember or find out what they are, LOL! XP And yeah, having the design around for a year or at least a fair amount of time before getting it tattooed is a pretty good idea! You want to be SURE you'll be happy with it! There are a few I've thought about having done before (Zero's "Z" symbol from the Mega Man X series for instance, or maybe Megamind's "M") that I know I'll always like but I'm still too anxious to commit, LOL! XP Yeah, the hardest part about learning tattoo for me was simply overcoming my natural inclination to never hurt people... LOL! XP I don't naturally like to inflict pain on anyone or anything but obviously I kind of need to do a little of that to tattoo someone. Thankfully that was my biggest hurdle though and I got past it fairly quickly. A shame no one's actually got the tattoo designs you've made done though! That has to be frustrating. And excitement! I wonder if he'll reply? Would be interesting to hear what he says!

Meta Bugs are my own species, my character Riktus Rinktus is one It might be a good idea if you ever get one done, to get it done on a place you can cover easily. I have a band symbol from a TV show I like on my leg, I rarely see it and sometimes forget it's there. Mostly because it's not my own design so I didn't want it in a place people would see easily. You only see it if I wear shorts. Which is very rare. I don't like hurting people either. I have only physically hurt people two times and both were when they threw the first punch.
He replied nearly instantly! He said he imagines their ears to be where ears normally are (so, at the base of the nostricles I assume) but he said he should probably try and think up something funnier than that.

Oooh, OK! That's really cool! Also explains why a Google search for "Meta Bug" didn't turn up much except your character LOL! XP Yeah, I'm not even really sure where I'd get a tattoo if I did get one... My initial idea would probably have been my ankle but I've already had to have surgery on my ankle once and might eventually have to do it again if I'm unlucky and willing to fight with my doctor (he declared me handicapped and told me not to expect to get better but I'm starting to see some minor improvement... Fingers crossed!) so an ankle tattoo might be a bad idea. I guess I'll figure it out if/when the time comes.

Heh! Well, we kind of already knew that much so I guess that's not really new information, but at least we know we have the right area in mind even if we don't know how exactly the ears work! XP That's OK though; leaves a little mystery to Boov anatomy! Did he happen to mention if he's writing another book or not? I SO want to read another one!

Yeah I used to do a lot with Riktus, he has his own Twitter and he used to have his own LiveJournal back when people used it, before it became redundant. Oh dear, I hope your ankle improves! Having a tattoo down there does make your leg swell a little. Mine did when I got my one done. It hurt to walk for a few days and I had to wear lose pants.

Yes at least we know what their creator thinks now. We were on the right track! Yes indeed No he never said about a third book. I said we were "looking forward to book three" but he never replied to that.

Aaah, LiveJournal... I used to be pretty active on LJ back when the Megamind fandom was alive and kicking on there. Unfortunately they all moved to Tumblr where I refuse to follow (sooooo not-user-friendly; I can barely understand it at all and have no time to try to figure it out) so those days came to a quick end and LJ is now telling me I have to sign up again if I want to use it so I'm done with it. Pity though... I found posting on LJ to be easy and straight-forward; I had hoped to find other Home fans on there but no luck. I'm actually still wondering if there's some sort of group out there somewhere for Home fans or if it's all just IG, DA, and (mostly me on) FA... I really have rather bad luck with finding these things so I don't know. A shame though... I used to organize holiday card and secret Santa gift exchanges every year for the Megamind fandom on LJ; this will be the first year I won't be doing it now that LJ is being stupid and I refuse to sign up twice when I'm already a member... That was always fun, and I always loved getting cards from all over the world! I had hoped to do something similar for Home fans and maybe doodle Oh in the cards I send out (I usually design my own cards with my own artwork too) but I guess it's not to be. Oh well, what are you going to do? And yeah, I'm hoping my ankle will improve too, LOL! XP It's been a loooooooooooong, painful, and trying road... I had a bone spur on the back of my ankle that was cutting into my Achilles tendon; in the spring (around March I believe) of 2013 I woke up one morning unable to walk at all. Took more than a week to get any mobility back at all, and after months of trying every non-surgical method to try to improve things we were finally faced with only one option: surgery to remove the spur. It was that or leave it and let it cut through the tendon completely which would have been worse... So I had the surgery in January of 2014. Everything went well and it healed up fine but by the summer of 2014 it became apparent that it would (seemingly) only recover to a certain point; the scar tissue was interfering. My doctor declared me handicapped and told me not to expect to get any better, that if I didn't see any further improvement by January of 2015 I shouldn't expect any. I literally watched all my dreams go up in smoke that day... I'm naturally a very energetic and active person; being told I'd never be able to do anything but walk and even then only for short distances was the hardest thing I've ever had to hear. That's why the other day when in a moment of frustration I decided to try standing on my toes and realized I actually could AND could even finally lift myself up a bit on only my bad ankle with NO support from my other foot I totally lost it and started celebrating, LOL! XP I know it's such a little thing and most people take it for granted but for me that's something I haven't been able to do in 2 1/2+ years now. I finally have a little hope... And that feels much better than having none, trust me! X3 After all the pain I've had to go through I think I could handle a few days of pain for a tattoo! I'm used to limping anyway.

Haha, well maybe he didn't respond to that part because he can't say anything just yet! I'm certainly hoping for another book! Fingers crossed we'll see another one soon!

I loved LJ years ago. But tbh I only really used my journal for private ranting. This gave some people a bad view of me. Then there was an ex-friend who turned out to be a complete bitch who was on there. I met her through another friend and thought she was a little kid judging by the quality of her art. Turned out she was 9 years older than me and a psychopathic weirdo with nothing better to do with her life than "fight" people on the net, go round looking for fights and then she was downright nasty to me. But she was most of the reason I stopped posting on LJ because she kept nagging me to comment on all her entries. And if you nag someone, they want to do it even less. She tried it with her stuff on here too but I refused to let her nag me to commenting on things I no longer had anything to say about since her attitude really bugged me. She was one of those "I'm always right" people. In fact she's a very insecure individual who takes her temper out on those around her. That's weird LJ wanted you to rejoin. I shut two of my accounts down on there. I only have my main one and a fan club account on there now, neither of which I really use.
Yeah Tumblr, I couldn't get the hang of it to begin with either. It's a fun site if you just like scrolling and reblogging and I have made friends on there which is nice but I don't really post my art there except commisssions. I don't much like the idea of someone reblogging my artwork on their account. I don't mind if it's fanart though.
That's really awesome you could put weight on your bad ankle! It's not silly at all, I can see perfectly why you would get excited about it. We take our freedom for granted when there are people who can't walk at all or struggle with it. I have another couple of friends who have had heel spurs. Theirs kept coming back.

Oh boy, that does sound like a bad experience... XD I actually never used LJ for personal journals whatsoever; I only got the account so I could post to the Megamind community and I swear to this day that Megamind fans are some of the most awesome, accepting, and inclusive people I've ever met! Of course I'll admit that it was also the first fandom I've ever been a part of that was friendly like that too; Mega Man fans on the other hand are a judgmental and brutal bunch who'd sooner attack and flame you (you personally) for daring to even say you're looking forward to a game release. XD Most of the fandoms I'd tried to be an active part of prior to Megamind were like that though; you learned quickly to never EVER under ANY circumstances post ANYTHING... So when I found the Megamind community on LJ and realized I could finally post journals and fan art or whatever without taking flak for it I was overjoyed to say the least. So my experience with LJ was nothing but a positive one and I was sad when everyone got so distracted by Tumblr that they practically stopped using it altogether... I'd post up the usual holiday card exchange etc. posts, but that really became it for the year. I just noticed LJ went back to letting me in again... LOL! They must have had a ton of angry messages thrown at them or something! So maybe I'll still be able to do my yearly card exchange and all. I just wish people would be more active on there. It was nice having a central hub for all things Megamind; people found and posted things on there (like storyboards never released to the public) that I'd never have found otherwise! I was hoping to have something like that for Home too. Maybe I'll create a group on there or something, although I doubt I'll see much activity... XP

Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of scrolling and reblogging; it would really irk me to find someone else reposting my artwork. Which is actually why I was SHOCKED to find out you can do that on IG too... Did you know that?! Someone re-posted my photo of my Oh plush with my Home Blu-Ray and if you didn't go looking through all the tags at the end to see the "repost from fizzyboov" one (which I'm pretty sure no one's going to bother to do with all the other tags they threw in first) you would of COURSE assume it was their photo! This person isn't following me and didn't even "like" my original post of the photo; they merely reposted it themselves to get the attention. The description doesn't even say anything or mention me; it's just a whole bunch of tags with my name at the very end. I'm really anxious about posting anything now... For all I know someone else may be using my photos of Tip! I watermark all my artwork before I put it up, but the mark is very subtle; I might have to make it far more blatantly obvious now, much like what I see you doing. But that will kind of kill the spontaneity of posting photos; I can't watermark on my phone, so I'd have to pull the photo off my phone onto my PC, watermark it there, put it back on my phone, upload to IG... What a hassle, and forget watermarking videos. I can do it but that's even more of a pain. X3 So frustrating.

Yeah, it's such a little thing for most people but for me it was like a monumental leap! XP I'm short, so reaching things is hard for me, especially after all of this while I couldn't stand on my toes. I can't handle stairs well so pulling out the stepping stool is a nightmare for me... So this might not be a miraculous recovery but even just regaining those two inches in height can mean the difference between reaching a glass without pain as opposed to a few minutes of suffering. XP Unfortunately I know this spur probably won't be the last... I have heel spurs on the bottom of my feet too that haven't caused any problems just yet but probably will in the future. I just wasn't blessed with good health unfortunately. XD And if my aunt is any indication (my mother's sister, so from the side of the family where all my health issues come from X3) I'll get another spur on the back of my other ankle and need surgery for that too. My mother has degenerative arthritis in her foot which was rotting the bones and had to have three of them removed and the others fused together... *Sighs* I have a lot more fun to look forward to in my golden years. X3

That's cool you had a good experience with LJ. In all honesty I did too, till I was nagged to death by someone too old to be doing such childish things. Most fandoms I've been in have been ok except the Mewtwo fandom. They are SO opinionated. I dropped out. The creator of Mewtwo said he is whatever people make him to be but for some reason whenever I express an opinion about him I get told off and that's not how he is or I'm blind if I can't see their view of him. I can't be doing with things like that. Most fandoms I'm in are small though. Well, the ones I'm really into. Like Freefonix for example. I'm the moderator for its Wiki and I'm very proud of the work I put into it to help people learn more about the show (which was cancelled after one season in 2008/09).

Yes someone stole one of my pics too, which was why I have to now watermark my stuff. It wasn't even a finished picture. They just stole it and entered it into a contest (which I later won anyway with a different picture and yes the contest was for Home) but when I left them a comment telling them off about it they removed it. I did report it as well but of course they'd taken it down so all I got was an email saying that they had gone to check it out but the thief had removed it. I can't watermark my other photos though unless I do the same as you so I just have to hope that no one has taken any. I dunno why they would really, they aren't photos of things that are very important to others.

Oh dear It's always frustrating when health problems are inherited. I'm not that tall either, I'm 5' 5'' and have trouble reaching things. My b/f is 6' though so he helps a lot!

Yeah, unfortunately negative people can really ruin it for the rest of us. Sounds like that MewTwo fandom is a LOT like the Mega Man fandom and most of the others I've ever tried to be a part of... XD If nothing else I think that's why the Megamind fandom became so important to me (you know, apart from the awesomeness of Megamind himself LOL! ) and why I'm still sad that it's essentially died on any platform I can follow; it was the first fandom that ever made me feel welcome, let alone welcome enough to actually dare to comment on anything, post opinions, or share my art. I hate it when fandoms aren't like that, when they're nothing but breeding grounds for trolling. It makes the experience of the fandom far less fun for all involved. I'm actually not familiar with Freefonix, but it sounds like you're having a lot of fun with it!

Yes, I recall reading comments on your art about that... I'm definitely glad you won the contest anyway! HAH! I hate art theft. I watermark my art but until now it's been a subtle thing; I don't really want to make it blatant because it destroys the effect of the image sometimes (especially if I stick it right over someone's leg or something, which is usually what I do) but I guess I'm not going to have a choice now. It's frustrating though. Yeah, I was surprised that the photo of mine that was reposted was my photo of my Oh plushie with my Home Blu-Ray... I mean, really? LOL! XP I actually would have expected Tip to be stolen first or something like that, but my Oh plushie sitting on my couch with a Blu-Ray case in his lap? That was unexpected, LOL! XD

Yeah, I'm not one of the lucky ones. My mother's side of the family seems to have about EVERY hereditary illness and cancer known to man and they are ALL passed down through the female gender -- which is why I'm plagued with everything my mom gets and my brother is freaking Iron Man since he's male and gets his health from my dad's side. Every time something new happens to my mom I groan because I know that means I'm getting it next. -_- Hey, I'm 5' 5" too! My hubby is 5' 11" and never seems to get the "don't put anything I need to reach higher than the first or second shelf" rule, LOL... XD He complains if I have to have him get something for me but refuses to keep things low enough for me to reach. His solution to shut me up was to (finally) get me a nice stepping stool (basically a short ladder) so I could reach almost everything, but then my ankle promptly gave out so I can't use it without pain. I can't win, LOL! XP

I totally agree. I love Megamind anyway, though I only ever doodled him at work a few times. It was a movie I could relate to, having been bullied, especially when the other kids fought over who WOULDN'T have Megamind for their team. They did that to me too. I have The Art of Megamind as well.
The Danny Phantom fandom went that way too. In the end they got tied up in the concept of being a "true" fan of the show, which was a load of rubbish.

Theft comes in many forms. I too was surprised when they stole a half finished piece of mine, although I mostly only post half finished and WIPs on there. Now everything I post has my username on. I won't take the chance any more. Then if people do steal it, at least it says where it originally came from. People used to steal photos of my Furby Crystals as well, which was why I started with the paper watermark. On YouTube people kept stealing my videos so now I film all my unboxings and reviews with the URL of my channel in the background. It's sad I have to do that.

Oh man I'm glad my family is healthy. A couple of the men on my father's side have had heart problems and so does my Dad but Mum's side are all long lived and healthy. Cool! That's neat we're the same height! Oh dear, yeah the stepping stool isn't much use now I'm guessing. Nothing in my house is too high to reach but sometimes I have trouble getting the ladder down to go into the attic. I have to stand on a stepping stool then.

Oh, yeah, I TOTALLY can identify with Megamind! I mean seriously, watching that film for the first time was like watching my life. XD I was severely bullied, beaten even when I was young. And you know that scene where they lobbed the dodgeballs at Megamind's head? Yep, they literally did that to me too. Eventually you get very good at dodging those things, which only pisses them off more... And then the teachers start yelling at you to just let them hit you. Yeah, like I was going to do that. XP And there are SO many other parallels I could make too (my brother could easily be considered Metro Man while I was definitely Megamind and called the bad girl and blamed for everything for instance XD). It was impossible for me NOT to like Megamind! Plus, my husband looks EXACTLY like him. No joke! The face is practically identical, especially the jawline, chin, and brow. I'm not kidding. I actually used my hubby as a living model when I was making my model of Megamind for my 3D animation classes, LOL! If I got stuck on a feature, I just looked at him, haha! Kind of hard not to like a guy who looks like the one you're married to but with blue skin and a big head. And UGH, I HATE when people start doing the "true fan" nonsense! That's when you know it's time to move on. XP

Yeah, it is sad that you have to be that careful about making sure you watermark even your YouTube videos. I have Adobe After Effects so I could easily do that myself, but it's SUCH a pain... And kills the spontaneity of posting, say, my videos of Tip. She's just so cute and funny that I want to share her online... But now I have to worry about it. UGH. I hate theft. XD

Yeah I wish my family was healthy. XD My father's side (generally) is; only thing I know runs in the family on that side is the women (especially the skinny ones) tend to get osteoporosis when they get older and every male apparently dies of Alzheimer's (we're watching my dad now to see if he gets it; my grandfather died of it in 2011). My mom's side is a mess. XP I'm watching my hubby a bit too; his family health is generally pretty strong, but the males all seem to die of heart conditions before they hit 60... His dad has had multiple heart attacks already. XD The one good thing he has going for him though is that he's very fit and athletic (unlike just about everyone else in his family who are all very overweight) so I'm hoping he'll beat the odds; I really don't want to be a widow any time soon, LOL! Yeah, the stepping stool doesn't get used much; it hurts if I have to use it so I do my best to just try to make sure what I need remains low enough for me to get it on my own. Can't always be helped though... I miss the days when I could run up and down stairs like they were nothing. I used to prefer taking the stairs to an elevator but now I have no choice. It's hard sometimes not to feel old. XP

I love movies like that and characters I can relate to. It definately brings us closer to them when we can relate to them personally. I hated dodgeball. We weren't allowed to throw above the knees but the kids always aimed extra hard when they threw the ball at me. That's awesome about your husband! How cool that he looks like Megamind! I dunno if my b/f looks like anyone but he has a sweet face and a nice smile and I love that about him. Another movie parallel you have

Yes I have Power Director so I can watermark videos easily but it's still annoying. It means I have to edit them instead of encoding them and putting them straight up on YouTube. It takes longer cos I have to re-save the edited version. Me too. I don't post many videos up there but I hope no one takes the ones I do post.

That's sad about the family My b/f is pretty fit, he's tall and lanky and doesn't have that much wrong with him but he works weird shifts and it makes him tired. I'm pretty healthy, I don't have any long term conditions or anything apart from a circulation problem but it's mild and is fine if I keep myself warm in the winter. I can't work in cold conditions though, I lose the feeling in my fingers and get chilblains. It's called Reynaud's Syndrome. Yes you don't want to be a widow. I know what it's like to lose a partner; I lost my b/f of three years back in 2007, he was ill most of his life but he died in the end. It gave me depression and insomnia. I didn't think I'd ever find anyone else since all the relationships I'd had before and since him all went wrong. It took me a long time to get over his death. I'd miss being able to run up and down stairs too. Especially since we live in a four floor house. My parents own it but we're getting it ready to sell since we want to move to a nicer area. I've never moved before.

Yeah, I don't think the kids here were supposed to be aiming above the knees either but no one cared when it came to me and even the teachers preferred to look the other way. X3 They always aimed at my head and threw it as hard as they could. It really hurt when they got me... I remember I got hit in the face a few times. That HURT. I couldn't even be walking by a game to try to get to the swings on the other side without them lobbing the balls at me; I'd suddenly get hit out of nowhere. I hate that game. XD I love it when I can relate to characters in movies though; it really does help bring you closer to them and makes the whole experience of the film feel more real.

Yeah, that's exactly right... If I wanted to watermark anything in After Effects it 1) would take time, 2) require saving an additional file, 3) the file sizes from After Effects (even for short clips) are ALWAYS HUGE so I have to use another program to encode them again into a smaller file size which of course means 4) I have to save yet ANOTHER file, and then FINALLY 5) I can put that file back on my phone so I can upload it to IG at last. Just too much of a hassle. All I can do is hope no one steals the videos I post and hope for the best. X3

Oh my gosh... I'm so sorry to hear about your prior boyfriend... That's so sad... That would have destroyed me too. *HUGS* I'm glad you have someone now though. Good luck with the move! I hate moving... It's too stressful, but right now I'm eager to get to a point where I can... Our house isn't four stories, but it is two and very small; the bedrooms are on the second floor while the bathroom is on the first and the only place we can put the laundry machines and kitty litter boxes is in the basement. Kind of a nightmare for me. XD I'm itching to move into a nice one-story home if I can ever get that lucky... It'd be much easier for me to navigate. I miss being able to do my own laundry but I can't get it up and down all those stairs so the hubby has to do it, LOL! XP

That must've been horrible. Especially that the teachers looked the other way. They need to be more strict with bullying. At least they didn't do that with me but I was afraid they might.

Yeah it's too much hassle

*hugs back* Me too. And I can't wait to move. Living in this house stresses me and gives me anxiety. I'm dreading next spring. I want to just run away at times. We can't move soon enough. It's only a pain that we have to fix this house up in order to go. We need to get good money for it so our next house will be good. So we won't be moving till 2017 The house itself is ok but the location and wildlife here are not. I need to move inland. And into a smaller house as well!

Yeah, sadly the teachers here were just as bad as the students... XD It didn't help that I was VERY smart for my age either (I'm not trying to be immodest, I really was; I was in advanced classes from the very beginning); even the teachers bullied me. I had one math teacher (in my advanced class for goodness' sakes) who pulled me up in front of the class, humiliated me, and tore up my flawless assignment JUST because I finished it too quickly. I HATE bullies, whether teachers or otherwise. They really need to do something about it. It's not right. I'm glad you managed to avoid having yours look the other way though.

Yeah, we need to do some work on our house before we move too. Not that we really need to exactly, but because we feel like we should LOL. XP Nothing major really; our house is actually in really good shape, just a few cosmetic things like putting in a new front path or landscaping. I wish I could move tomorrow though. XP My hubby's yearly deployment is coming up (he's in the Air National Guard) which means I'll be all alone for a few months. Again. Having to deal with the pain of the stairs I usually avoid because he can do the things like the laundry I can't handle... UGH. I hope when you move though you'll get a house better suited to your needs though! Hopefully one of these days I will too, LOL!
