Description
Hey guys, what's up? So this was meant to be a 2 week long project my class was given as Art homework. We were meant to research and put together 3 or 4 ethnic masks in a picture, and it's meant to be preparatory work for the work we'll do in class; so basically this homework is a plan and my class will re-do it again in class with paint. My brushwork last year was H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E- , so I thought since we're doing some more painting this year that I would get in some brushwork practice with this homework and use watercolours for this homework.
I don't know how, or why, or who, or when, or what, but somehow my painting improved A LOT in the space of 5 months (strange, considering I rarely practiced my painting, and when I did it turn out an epic failure).
I'm really happy with this homework though (: It's going to get graded tomorrow, so I'll cross my fingers and hope I get a good grade.
Done with watercolour paints ,watercolour pencils ,a normal pencil, a black outlining pen and a lot of patience.
4 and a half to 5 hours~
Later (:

it's aways funny to do the ethnic masks project. Funny how it seems universal as a homework! I think I must have done 3 or 4 times from my elementary art projects to this day. But it's always so colorful and calming to just create a face full of colors, shapes and expression.
You did well, I hope you had fun doing this homework!

have you really done it so many times? didn't really think it was so popular! i was actually not really looking forward to this one, because i thought venetian masks would be a bit more fun and was afraid i'd jinx it up. but yes, i did have lots of fun with it, and i think maybe something else that's so charming about it is that it's so lively and colourful. it was something i think i'll have to try again in the future, and thank you so much

Yes I did it numerous times, either in drawing or painting or in plaster mask. Each year in my highschool years, I had a different teacher. It's quite weird to see that they all wanted to make us do this project, but seeing as it is quite expressif and colorful, I understand why they always wanted to do it. Beside, most people in my classes didn't really want to go in art, it was just a not so dull option of courses, so this project is a way to make a portrait in a way that even if you're not necessarly a good artist, you still can do interessing things.
By the way, I still haven't scanned it yet, nor arrange the picture since I will have to scan it in some shots, but I redid this project after having seen your's. It had been a long time since I colored my drawings, and I just sketch things since months, so I wanted to take the time to make a real draw, color and all. You gave me the idea, and for once I really took my time to well draw it (more than 30 hours).
Can't wait to show you!

i think you have a point, because alot of the girls in my class who aren't really good at drawing are doing particularly well with this compared to their other class works. glad to hear that i inspired you, and now i really can't wait to see yours either!
