Looks great, but shouldn't the Summoner be a bit taller?  I thought it was one of the tallest mechs, despite being only 70 tons.

Nothing beats the classics. Love the way you modeled these!

Cool!

This is quite a cool lineup. For some reason it makes me think on a strategy game. Wouldn't be great if we had a proper BT strategy game, similar in scope to Starcraft or Dawn of War?

There was a decent mod for C&C Generals called "The Capellan Solution". They never completely finished it, but it's still pretty fun regardless. www.moddb.com/mods/battletech-…

Oh yeah, I remember that one. It was a sweet mod indeed. Sadly they never got to finish it properly.

Could you imagine how cool it would have been if they did something similar with DoW? .)

Definitely a cool idea. Surprised nobody's attempted it.

I know, right?

If I had a few motivated programmers with me I could actually try to lay down some plans, but time is in short supply anyhow.

Yeah. Not telling how long it would take to learn the ins and outs of a whole game engine, let alone develop the appropriate models and textures.

Indeed, that would be the sad reality of things. But , still, it would be an awesome mod to make.

If it were me I would place it in the jihad era, probably. If you replaced the factions in Soulstorm you could get a great diversity.

Federated Suns
Capellan Confederation
Free Worlds League
Lyran Commonwealth
Draconis Combine
Blake Protectorate
Clan Jade Falcon
Clan Wolf
Clan Ghost Bear

It would be rad, but I digress.

I can bake these models as textures for lowpoly versions of the same ones. I can also animate them in almost any program as well. The tricky part is the programming.

I worked with NGNG for a while on their Battletech Universe and Decision at Thunder Rift games.

Don't doubt it. I'm no programmer by any means, so the only mods I've done are simply cosmetic ones. Nothing close to a total conversion.

NGNG, huh? Pretty impressive.

They're actually just a bunch of average guys. MW/BT is a very small community. I knew them about two years before they took on the name NGNG but haven't done much with them recently.

The games had a severe lack of programmers and to be perfectly honest their concepts were pretty badly planned out. Basically the games are meant to be played like Mechassault except with a 'canon' mech view where you have the screen stretch to show you a 360 view of your surroundings with a simple HUD. Each mech instead of having the eight components of a mech (head, CT, LT, LA, etc.) would have had each of those components broken down into a superfluous 4-6 segments for some reason. And each game was to be based on a book. And each book would be taken literally. So when a book mentions a Rifleman once, the game was to have only a single Rifleman. Meaning the entire game would have about 7 enemy mechs. Anyways, rant over. It was an... interesting experience and I think they're still trying to do it but they can never get people to keep working with them and they never seem to stick with a game concept.

Yeah, sounds frustrating. I've noticed there are significant portions of the MW/BT community that either take the lore too seriously, or not seriously enough. (As redundant as that sounds.)

Regardless, I feel your pain. I know what it's like to put a lot of work/time into something, only to have someone waltz in and say, "Hey, y'know that one thing you're doing? Well, now you need to change it into something completely different."

Yeah, I am all too familiar with the too serious groups. I tried to play MWO with some of the NGNG guys and their friends. They just sucked the fun out of it by taking it too seriously. Now they were a ton of fun out of game but in the game was pretty miserable. When you have a group of guys pretending to be soldiers and acting more 'serious' than actual soldiers to the point that no one was allowed to make any jokes and radio silence had to be maintained and a million little headaches like that.

Kind of part of why MWO is slowly dying, simple because they are rigidly sticking to canon so much that they added all those weird little rules and exceptions that don't even work and no one can understand to the basic weaponry.

Makes you wonder when you look at the hugely successfully MW2 and MW3 while just blatantly ignored canon by adding things like Shield generators, giant holograms, impossible loadouts, weapons that weren't even close to TT, etc. but being a total blast to actually play and loved by 90% of players.

MW4 was pretty shoddy itself but was still a blast because it kept it simple and while serious didn't take itself too seriously.

Anyways, I'm just full of rants today. MWO has been bugging meever since I quit playing it a few weeks ago.

Nothing wrong with ranting, I'm pretty frustrated MWO as well. I can deal with some of the nerfs they've been putting out, and I don't really care if everything is 100% canon. It's just the lack of content that's driving me up the wall. As many have said before, repetitive and meaningless mech deathmatch just isn't enough to carry the game on its own. They really should've waited till CW was finished before they even thought about a launch date.
