Also, one of the fan-made Grimm I came up with so far, the Leech, could actually look a little like her arm.
You see, the Leech are rather weak on their own. Even weaker than a Beowolf. However, they can latch onto other beings, such as Grimm, animals or even humans and faunus without an aura to protect them. The Leech shares his knowledge with its host, who uses this to defend them both. Host and Leech can also communicate telepathically.
One of the most interesting abilities a Leech has, though, is its ability to slightly adjust its shape, allowing it to replace lost limbs, for example. When a human/faunus/animal host dies, the Leech takes over the body entirely, gaining all physical abilities, such as moving around or making sounds. Scary, right? But imagine killing someone, only to meet them again a few days later. Also, as the Leech only needs to be attached to the host to control it, even a beheaded host can be controlled by a Leech.
When a Leech´s Grimm host dies, however, the Grimm turns into a black puddle that births more Leeches, depending on the size and strength of the Grimm host.
Not many people know about Leeches, allowing some of them to become centuries or even millennia old. Also, since a Leech shares its knowledge with its host, it means that a Leech that attaches to a capable huntsman or huntress gains all their knowledge. Any future host would then gain all this knowledge right away, effectively turning Leeches into the potentially most dangerous Grimm there are...
